Sorry. I've never heard of air shocks for the front. I've never heard of a gas charged shock being thought of as a hazardous product either.
Do you have any auto part stores in your area that sell new stuff? They only make air shocks for the back to raise the rear end for looks or for heavy hauling to level out the car for handling. Your 260 will never be fast, so just make it look nice and put dual exhaust on it that you can also use on any other oldsmobile engine you put in there later.
