Got quite a bit finished off today.

Fired up the new tig machine and with only a few test welds I spread aluminum boogers on my BOV and got it mounted on the intake pipe.
The first half looked very un-Instagram worth, but not to bad for the first real aluminum welds ever.

Just need to plumb it to manifold vacuum and she should be ready for a giant kazoo or rubber chicken.

Cleaned up some of the wiring through the firewall and put some rub guard on it

Mocked up an air cleaner solution seeing as the new rad took all my air cleaner real estate. Seen it somewhere recently, rumor is it works ok.

I think a 90 on the bottom to tighten it up to the fender will be just about perfect. Might even be able to run a bigger filter and make an bit of an air box. So that's a win.

Fabbricobbled a 2" wastegate exit pipe to hopefully cure my boost control woes. Having boost creep on the 5lb spring is bad, but so was thinking a 11/2 elbow with a pinched bend would be a good wastegate exit.

Nothing screams custom exhaust like sketchy pie cuts....

It took a while but by the end I started getting the new welder figured out. One day they might look pretty, today is not that day.

On the list to tackle:
Boost Solenoid, and plumbing.
Plumb the BOV, install rubber chicken.
Wire relay to second fuel pump.
Less sketchy install of Holley dash and switchboard.
Gratuitous idle walk around
Burnout and tuning.

Next up you can try pie cuts in the radius of a bend, with a flux core welder! Super fun!

She's looking great!!

I have a plan for some more pie cut action. Shopping for a band saw right now.

Thanks man. I'll take a look, appreciate the tip.
It's getting better, trying to do things more right and final when I get them done.

Got some of the dash finalized today, did not completely come out as I wanted but I think it'll be effective.

Cut a dash piece cut out of some 3/16 aluminum that I had kicking around and mounted some gauges along with the Digital Dash.

The dash opening isn't really wide enough for the 7" dash, the lines aren't really straight but its a racecar so...

Discovered that the mechanical fuel pressure and boost gauges i ordered were not the same line as my first set of gauges. :doh:Nothing as cool as mismatched gauges.

At least my throttle close initiation device is here.

Are you saying that the rubber chicken will be hose clamped to the blow off? F-ing GENIUS!!

I hereby absolve your turbo LS in a Cutlass sins! :p
The rubber chicken or maybe a duck call of some sort.

But yes, absolutely am going to.

Got a fair amount done today on the wastegate swap.

Ripped out the turbo and did some assessment.
20200822_132639.jpg

I knew I warped the wastegate flange on the 44mm when I originally welded it in. I had some ugly gaps to fill due to cutting the original hole.

It was bad.
20200822_132710.jpg

This time I flanged in with a connector pipe and took some time.
20200823_130503.jpg

Much more air flow action room.

High tech fab shop around here...
20200823_122211.jpg

I took one spring out, tested the pressure out with shop air, cracks at 5psi and is fully open by 7psi. Perfect.

20200823_133401.jpg

All installed and ready to plumb air lines for the 4 port solenoid.

I got a lot more done but ill finish it off before updating tomorrow. This is happening tomorrow, fender exit flame thrower. 😃

Mock up purposes only.
