Got the motor cleaned up and measured the bores and mains, installed the cam bearings and got the crank in and mains torqued

Cam bearing install. Made sure all oil holes are lined up and going to feed the cam.

Bores all measured good for 0.004" piston clearance, exactly what summit calls for. Beauty!

Mains were all 0.002" clearance, tight but within minimum spec.

Torqued are spinning very nicely by hand.

Got shut down for candy distribution duty, but the tedious part is behind me.

My piston clearance was identical and mains and rods were all .002 to .0022ish.
What rings are you running

Even the previous rebuild was the same for main clearance. I think it might be a good block.

Rings are Summit Racing Pro series, they came with the rods and pistons. Gapping to 0.024 and 0.024, pistons have a healthy top land so summit says that will work for big boost. I'm not sure who makes the rings but weisco makes the pistons and I believe Callies makes the rods so I would imagine they are quality.

Got the shortblock finished up today

All rods are in, and bearings special out nice for clearances. ARP 2000 bolts torqued to 85ft/lbs.

New cam thrust plate, one of the few essential replacements for an LS.

Slide the cam back in and buttoned up the front end. Installed the SFI rated Trick Flow dampner. 25% under drive. I didn't have a specific reason for it but it'll help with the higher RPM later.

The upside of the new dampner... timing marks. Which are now calibrated to TDC. For a good static timing check.

SFI rated flex plate.. its even pretty colored!

Checked the level on the LS3 dipstick that the holley swap pan recommended, I feel like an extra quart will be in my future... the full level is well under the crank.

She is ready for heads and valve clearance checking...

Played around with the intake, one more set of adapters and i can run my 160lb injectors with my 210lb injectors.... Think I'm gonna do it. All the fuel supply!

Why do you run an LS?

Oh yeah, see my build thread
Funny story, I got a call from the guy that bought my Pontiac, needed some info for the motor, I offered to take the motor off his hands but no dice.

I would have rocked the hell out of that motor. Turbo'd 462 poncho with all forged internals....

Looks like that bottom end is ready for
