So I bought me a new toy and joined the Olds side of the G body gang yesterday.

Little visit to uncle Donovan's to see the older cousins on the trip home. I believe he approved of my new toy.

Seeing as the regal is in bodywork prison and probably will be for a while (forever), I decided that I need a driver to play with.

This build is going to live here, because I'm not going to build anything on the car, its just getting horsepower in the form of boosted LS sloppy goodness. There is only one goal for this car, other than to burn fuel and make smiles, drive to the strip lay down a 9 second pass and drive home.

I'll update with the specs on the car later today, other than a cage itll do what I want. Now I have to rip a motor out of the regal.
Appears to be a solid body, good luck with your build.

I called the big local shop, they dont do aluminum. period.

I have a plan now though. Gonna do it on the cheap. Racecar after all.

They dont due aluminum????

What are the ones made out of the homepage?

That place was out east. I tried locally, got a whole new idea for this project.

Behold the sheer genius of my rad fan solution.

Like a damn woman, can't make up your mind. Says the guy overthinking rear diff bolts 🥴
The bolt conversation reminded me that this is supposed to be a cheap fun car, not another money pit that I wont get to drive because it snowballs out of control. Install parts, drive, smile. Done.

You have been at yours for much longer so diff cover bolts are like the home stretch. 😉

So opinion poll time.

Going to put a new rad and fans in. Thinking of the Griffin LS swap rad and fan combo. Same one mike has in his wagon. Comes with SPAL fans and is a cross flow. Plus i can get it from Summit which is about the best for shipping to Canuckistan.

This bad boy here.

I know it's not cheap but it's the last really big item I need to complete the build. My rad is pretty crusty inside and the hoopty junkyard mustang fan looks like crap. I kinda want an engine bay that doesn't look like crap, its gonna be the nice part of this car.

Any thoughts or insight from the more knowledgeable here? Perhaps Mike can give a brother a review of his setup?

Radiator and cheap - 'Griffin' is not in that conversation.

What I/we are using presently, my son's 421 SB - AllStar Performance triple pass - works great - not the cheapest ($190) - works great with SBC inlets and outlets. My 4.8, on the super cheap build, Advance Auto with discount code Carquest 433162 for an '84 Monte with a 305 - $96. This one hasn't been to the track yet, but it cools just fine for normal use. The 421 is using a set of Gen 4 Camaro fans straight form the junkyard and the 4.8 is using a set of Spal fans a friend gave me that are almost 20 years old.

Again, cheap and Griffin - not synonymous. Good luck - Jim

100% correct. Going to dump some CLR calcium and scale remover into the stock rad and use the baking sheet with Amazon china fans instead. I shopped around and I cant do it cheaper. 😉
