That is the feeling I have had from the beginning of my black car. Stay with it. I think you will have something pretty awesome when it is done and very few have acomplished. If all else fails you can shell out some money and buy a megasquirt or Holley ECM. I am rooting for you!

Since it is out of the car and the intake is off I would do the head gaskets.
Dexcool is famous for destroying the gaskets in these engines.

Got it cleaned up pretty well. I scraped, RoLoc'ed, and scrubbed with ATF, then wiped out with blue towels.View attachment 73405
Too late, it's back together. This thing has spiraled way further than I ever anticipated, and it still won't stay running. Grrrrrr.
