I am surprised that is all it runs in the 1/4, thought it might be a second quicker being 200+ hp. It is dam consistent, if nothing else.
Honestly, 17 isn’t that bad. It’s probably about average for new cars. It’s only “slow” in the context of LS swaps and purpose-built race cars. 🤷♂️
As he points out in the slips - consistency wins the bracket if you don't red light out. Minimize the variables and focus on your reaction times.
I remember swapping in 3.73s and an Auburn posi - knocked almost 3 seconds off my quarter mile. Mid-14s is nothing remarkable, but it was such a change in experience I almost had an accident.

Yeah, you are running stock 305 or 307 Vin Y times. You have 3.42 gears correct? A lot of new cars will run 15's easy. Our Challenger GT Is the slowest muscle car made, runs 14's. I bet our neighbours 300 V6 AWD would pull off low 15's same drivetrain with 10 less hp and more weight. Look at almost all the new V6 run 300+ hp with 8 or 10 speed transmissions, the gear multiplication is insane even with 3.07 gears like my GT. Yes the old 3.8 or any of the baby V8's of 70's and early 80's suck but the lame 3 spd auto with 1600 stall and 2.41 gears, really make them even worse. A 10 speed with 3.08 gears behind those lame motors would make them feel almost acceptable.

Take a stock 305 or 307 G to the track and report back. Then, we can talk about this being a NA 6 banger (in a 4dr).

I don't care what it runs in the 1/4, a 3800 in a G Body is an extremely underrated swap.
