Long time reader, first time poster...(On this tread, lol) I think I see the problem, you're missing two cylinders. I hope this helps. Love the thread, keep up the good work.

VATS shuts off the injectors not the pump!!!!!!!!
Actually, it's BOTH! The VATS starts at the ign cyl, goes to the BCM, then to the PCM which controls the pump relay.
My previous experience with my Silverado led me to believe that the pump was the controlling factor as it will start and die much more quickly than this has (only running on the fuel from the pump prime). I also figured that turning VATS off in the PCM would do it.
I'll be over here--------------------------> on this island
researching what all I need to turn off in HPT now.

I'm working with 2002 stuff....
Close.
I really need to get HPT on it to see what ZZP did. This seems to be one of the best kept secrets in the tuning world. Been looking for what seems like hours upon days, and some say just go into General and set VATS to 'none'. Others are talking about changing between PWM and Serial, yada, yada, yada.

Thanks for the help (FINALLY!😛). It looks like we're on the right track, but it's in the "black box" now.

97-02 is the same

Mine was deleted by a third party tuner. Used to be called Trifecta Tune but I believe he merged with someone else. Not sure what his base software was. It was years ago. He actually shipped me a passthru for my laptop and emailed me the tune. PCM never left the car. Just like doing a reflash at the dealer.
They sell VATS simulators on eBay but most applications are for OBD1 vehicles.

99 switched to DBW on some models. I'm not trying to start an argument with you, and I truly appreciate the help. I've been sifting through diagrams, pinouts, and common problems for weeks. I've got a pretty good handle on things, but there are a few things new to me wiith LS swaps. The other 2 I've done were standalone PCMs and wiring. I'm trying to do it myself.

I did not know they used DBW on the 3800.
