Excellent work! Really well done!

Good news, good news!
The starter was on it's way out. I replaced it, and all is well. I even added a frame to starter/block ground braid for extra measure.
The fuel sender still works, so no need to drop the tank. It works while remote started and a few seconds after a key started. Then, it drops to E. It works off the same data line as the other gauges, and they work fine. Could it be something to do with the EVAP not having the pressure switch?

Could you run the EVAP switch but leave it disconnected from the vacuum system? I would think it would just give you a P0455 or P0457 that could be tuned out in software.

That's basically what I have now. The solenoid in the intake is connected to the vent line from the tank. The sender goes directly to the PCM, and the data line feeds the cluster. The only thing(s?) missing is the tank pressure sensor (and fresh air purge?).
From what I saw in HP Tuners, they don't have a lot of macros built for the 6 like they do for the 8s. I don't think you can "turn off" much of anything. You can make U and P codes "not report", but isn't that just the SES light?

I believe you are correct with the codes.

If you have missing hardware, there is a possibility that the bus addressing is messed up between the computer and the tank sender. I would just try to hook the tank pressure sender and fresh air purge if that part of the harness has not been stripped out. Even one of the two may be all it needs.

Actually before I jump down the CANBUS rabbit hole, does the fuel tank wiring connect to a BCM or the PCM?

Well, I was thinking about putting them in anyway just to squeeze every last vapor out of a gallon. I'll have to get them off the Firebird tank, then I can just wire & plumb them in under the hood. The EVAP does run a diagnostic at startup; I wonder if it kills the gauge on fail. Seems stupid, but possible nonetheless.
