That's basically what I have now. The solenoid in the intake is connected to the vent line from the tank. The sender goes directly to the PCM, and the data line feeds the cluster. The only thing(s?) missing is the tank pressure sensor (and fresh air purge?).Could you run the EVAP switch but leave it disconnected from the vacuum system? I would think it would just give you a P0455 or P0457 that could be tuned out in software.
Well, I was thinking about putting them in anyway just to squeeze every last vapor out of a gallon. I'll have to get them off the Firebird tank, then I can just wire & plumb them in under the hood. The EVAP does run a diagnostic at startup; I wonder if it kills the gauge on fail. Seems stupid, but possible nonetheless.I believe you are correct with the codes.
If you have missing hardware, there is a possibility that the bus addressing is messed up between the computer and the tank sender. I would just try to hook the tank pressure sender and fresh air purge if that part of the harness has not been stripped out. Even one of the two may be all it needs.
