Operation Lipstick on a Pig

Well, I was thinking about putting them in anyway just to squeeze every last vapor out of a gallon. I'll have to get them off the Firebird tank, then I can just wire & plumb them in under the hood. The EVAP does run a diagnostic at startup; I wonder if it kills the gauge on fail. Seems stupid, but possible nonetheless.
That LS1TECH link mentioned their fuel gauge not working until they hooked up the pressure sensor. YMMV

So, I drove it to work today (about 45 miles). The fuel gauge started working about halfway there. I'm wondering if the vent port in the G body sender is getting blocked when full. We shall see as I drive it the rest of the week.
1700rpm @ 78mph! 1500@55:banana: When it downshifts it only goes to 2500 rpm. If this tank goes all week, I'll be ecstatic! Or, will I be ludicrous?

Loose wire?

Loose wire?
I don't think so as it shares all power and ground from the cluster, and gets signal from the PCM. I was reading up on some of the later Bonnevilles having a similar issue. The fix was a resistor in the sender line. Apparently, the computer sees the long term full reading as an electrical fault...:wtf:

Yep loose wire!

Hmmm, not liking this so far. Initial mileage rating is 17 with 93 octane, injector cleaner, and various WOT stints. I had a coolant leak at the water pump inlet on the engine; replaced the hose clamp and crossed my fingers. The damn thing is loud inside the car and vibrates like it has solid motor mounts sitting at a red light. That may be from stiffening up the body mounts and new motor and trans mounts? It downshifts constantly on the highway trying to hold that 80mph cruise altitude. I may have to put some lower gears out back just to maintain my sanity. Not recommended.

Maybe run a half tank in drive instead of overdrive to see if it improves?

I'm guessing the F body donor had a 3.08 or 3.42? The 6 is working too hard with that tall highway gear (2.41). Put a little more gear in it and a quieter muffler. Consider the Dynomax Ultraflow. Very mellow but high flow. Is there any chance the harshness is the compressor up against the control arm?
