Ok, good to know. Not know ing the spring rates for the "lowering" springs from other companies, kept me from buying them.

We appreciate you looking at UMI.

It's pretty easy for a company like us to buy springs in bulk and label them. One phone call and BOOM, new springs are ready to roll.

On the other hand, it's time consuming and more expensive to do it our way. We design our springs in house by buying prototypes made to our specification and testing on our actual cars. If the rate isn't quite right or the height isn't where we want it, we do another prototype set. This makes it take a year to introduce a kit instead of a month.

We know our rates and materials because we designed them. It's to the point where we can even trace the batch of wire the springs were made from (not that we would need to, but our winder has that capability). At one point in our development process we even changed the rear spring material to the next higher grade to ensure no sag.

This summer we will be testing our Green Machine a few thousand laps across the east coast to make sure the springs work great. The rears already have a season on them with no ride height change.

Those are nice looking seats. What brand are they? I like that bar you put in and the belts. I'm not sure about your concerns about entry into the back seat, the more difficult it is the less chance of back seat drivers.. 🙂

The seat brand is Cipher. Honestly if you are looking for an inexpensive race style seat that is comfortable but just using it for driving, they would work nice. They are half the cost of most seats. However two races the mechanical slider on drivers seat is pretty much following apart. So I wouldn't recommend them for actual race use, unfortunately. We tried to stick with budget pricing but we will be replacing at least the drivers side this year.

A few more older pictures. Installing new seats and carpet. We also found perfect use for the nice green bench seat, shop seat!

Ryan,

While I am a fairly recent member (joined, fell off the world, climbed back on around Christmas) I like reading your posts. There are plenty of vendors like Hotchkis and Global West that 'proved' their stuff a long time ago and are now moving on to the current market. Huge prices and 'you get what you get'. Minimal customer service. I appreciate that you take the time to post your development work and let us see that you flog what you sell. Sorry about the spun bearing. Keep up the inspirational work.

Thanks Quinn! We appreciate the feedback and glad to see our work is followed 🙂 Our goal is to be helpful and we enjoy it! Thanks for following along.

400 is going in the car soon, so spun bearing is fixed. ha

A few more pictures from last year I wanted to add. We got the new carpet from G-Body Parts and it fit great. We tried to keep the car as budget so we wanted to try out the inexpensive Cipher seats, the seats themselves are nice, the clothe is nice and they are comfortable. However after a few races the adjusting track is pretty much falling apart on the drivers seat. So we wouldn't recommend these for a lot of racing. Cruising they would fine.

We also had to build our own seat mounts since no one had them in stock. We will redo them as well when we install a new seat this year.

Why didn't you go with black carpets?

Although I personally went with black carpets in my own car, I do like the grey. New seats, new wheel, black carpet, and before you know it the interior is just really dark. It's nice to have some variation and brightness once in a while, even if it is just a light grey. It's hard to beat the appeal of a nice black interior, but in my opinion it's nice to see a car that's bright on the inside too.
...
unless it's beige.
....
I hate beige.

And I am loving what you did to those lower interior panels in the back. Really ties the seats in.

We liked gray and black. I think black was out of stock or not available.. I can't remember. But the gray turned out nice. Really sets off the green! 😀

As for any interior panels. We had no part in any white or green paint. It was bought like that. ha. We will update over time.

But we do have some dash updates coming 😉
