Im assuming you mean bolts. I got a 10 bolt housing. Would that work or what would besides stuff from another g-body?

The 7.5 refers to the diameter in inches of the ring gear. That's how GM classifies their rears along with the number of bolts.

Thanks for the replies so far. I found a Richmond 8.5 10-bolt gears 3.73 on craigslist. Does anyone know if this would work for my app. I want a 3:73 or higher and think it would be better to change the gears rather than the rear. Let me know what you think.

An 8.5 ring gear will NOT fit in a 7.5 or 7 5/8 rearend housing.

Does anyone know the spline count for a G-body axle? Its stock with an open rear diff.

eaton 3 series posi rear end 3rd member with 373 ring and pinion gears 7.5 with 28 spline axels

How could I check?

If anyone knows. What am I ,ore than likely have?

I don't think it will because it is a 28 spline unit.
