Done, like a 50s or 60s rat rod, a g-body probably wouldnt look all that great. Ive seen pictures of plenty of modern cars done in a rat rod style and frankly, it just dont work. The whole rat rod scene grew out of how those cars aged naturally. 70s, and 80s cars, plastics, and paints made them age different.
Agree, seen a few too and it just doesn't really work visually.
It had about 10 rattle cans of black primer all over it, all different brands, so all different patinas...
This is more what I wondered about....say a particular car had seen a few different shades over the years and then gets a good smoothing out with a sander, if the look could work. I think it's pretty uncommon that any of our cars would have seen that much paint over the years though, it would have to be "done" purposely to achieve that kind of patchy look.
I saw a write up on how a guy did it on a early 90's pick up I think, technique seemed solid, apply paint, sand, apply, sand and so on, but in the end I think all the modern exterior trims kinda killed it.
I don't know who's car this is/was but I like this look, not sure on the wheels but the faded out color along with the stance I dig
