Well guys I was going to show you a pic of all the tune up parts for the 260 V8 in this car, but what's the point when you have better news...
Today I scored a Olds 403 long block with an Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold. So I was searching FB Marketplace, and came across an ad for an Olds 350 Rocket Engine - $250. It looked pretty clean, and the pics showed complete long block, balancer, crank pulley, water pump, oil filler tube, oil filter adapter, flexplate, oil pan, Edelbrock intake, rocker arms, and all the bolts were there. I was interested... I looked closer at the pics, and he had scrubbed the area where the casting number was.. 557265. So I ran the number.. It's a 403! I expanded all of the pics, and the heads are stamped 4A, plain as day. So I contacted him last night, and set up a time today to go check it out. When I got there I could plainly see "403" stamped on the side of the block... Is this guy blind?? I grabbed the crank pulley, and the motor turned right over by hand. I said nothing but "I'll give you $200 for it all" He said OK, he wanted it out of the garage. SOLD!
The motor was on a rolling engine stand.. he gave it to me. Thank you very much!! He had a hoist, so we loaded it up. Here's the pics.
So the plan is to give it a solid rebuild, using stock style parts. Deck the block, mill the heads to bring up the compression a little. Install a nice sounding/performing cam that works with this intake, and 3.42ish gears. I have a 750cfm Quadrajet I'll have spec'd for this combo. The distributor, and accessory brackets from the 260, will work. I will probably use Thornton exhaust manifolds, and rob the Jegs 2.5" dual exhaust kit I bought for the Century ( the 462ci BBB could really use a 3" inch exhaust anyway ). It will probably take me a year to assemble this engine. I got too many irons in the fire. BUT, I will have more for you tomorrow...
