Yes, I was thinking about it, but didn't think I could slip the whole drivetrain in at one time. Another tough lesson to learn. Even if I couldn't put it in all together, I should've tried it together out of the car first.

Bummer on the pilot bearing.

Just don't use the bread (or grease) in the cavity with a punch trick because LS stuff has a plug in the crank and it will fill the crank oiling passages instead of removing the bearing.

Yeah, I read up on that when I was trying to see how to get the pilot bearing out, but thank you for the heads up.

I used a body saw and made mine a 2 piece after the other methods failed me.

Well, looks like I have a chance to get in the garage tonight to yank the trans back out. Finally. The parts fairy showed up too.
4" diameter tubing, elbow, K&N filter, and clamps. Excited to see how it all turns out.

Success. Trans is back out, safely without hurting myself. I'll borrow the pilot bearing tool on my way home tomorrow and get the incorrect one removed.

Great job 👏
Is it true that there is a Plug in end of the crankshaft?
So I've been told, I'll snap a pic tomorrow when I get the bearing out.

Please do. I have a slight leak. It's either that or main seal.
I would say more likely main seal. Check out the pic on my 170k mile 5.3 in my truck in post #1. I replaced the seal and leak fixed.
