BUILD THREAD Project Olds Cool (Recognition!!)

Hey fellas, whassup?

Yesterday it was a beautiful warm and sunny day so the GF and I took the car to the car wash to give it a bath. It was still filthy from last weekend when we got caught in the rain and did the impromptu smoke show on the way home, so it really needed it.

I’ve been holding off on washing it because I wanted a second set of eyes to watch inside the car to see if either of the quarter windows I recently installed were leaking. With her in the car, I carefully washed it and had her watch. Much to my dismay (but not really surprise) she found that both were indeed leaking from somewhere around the bottom of both quarter windows. Great.

Worse yet, this time for some reason, both the front windshield AND the back glass leaked as well, both from the top edges. This is something new, neither the front or back glass has ever leaked before during any of the times I’ve washed it or got caught in the rain. If you may remember, I had mobile glass guys come out and professionally install both the front and back glass so there should be no reason whatsoever for those to be leaking. What the hell changed where now all of a sudden sh*t’s leaking???
😡

I’ve got another week off coming up in just over a week, so tomorrow I’ll be making an appointment to bring the car in to them and they can find out where and why the front and back windows are leaking. (And fix it!!)
While I’m there, they can also find and fix the quarter glass leaks for me as well.

I’m so pissed off and discouraged right now it’s not even funny. For those keeping track, the only glass that ISN’T leaking in the frigging thing is around the tops of the doors.

To make myself feel better and blow off some steam, after washing it I found a deserted dead end with a big open turn around area and ripped off several angry tire smoking donuts before taking it back home and parking it in disgust.

I’m so fed up with this thing I don’t even wanna look at it. It’s currently undergoing a timeout in the corner all by itself. I guess if there’s a silver lining to this crap, it’s that at least I haven’t installed the rest of the interior yet.

Pretty small consolation at this point tho.

(Disheartened) D.

Two steps forward and one step back. Sounds like you're ready for the next two forward steps. And better yet, vacation to take them. Just remember that a bad week of vacation is better than a good week of work - lol.

I have to admit though, it would be a lot nicer to just take three steps forward and never look back. But life doesn't seem to go that way.

D-man,
I could fully understand your disappointment and discouragement. Park it in the meantime...walk away from it ,regroup, and take a breather. Don't let this sh*t sap your soul. I know it sucks, but we've all had our moments.
However, I would still have the glass guy come back and make good for his ****up.

Cheer up, man. It will all be rectified and you'll be a happy camper again.
Hang in there brother. Don't let this whip you. You're stronger than that.
We're all here for you. my friend.

Donovan, we have al been there, frustrating when a project doesn't turn out as you plan. Sealing glass can be a real b*tch, something a person needs to do often to get it right.

Donovan,

I understand how you feel. Remember, this happens to all of us. If building cars was easy, everyone would do it. We've all been where you are. Just get away from it for awile. I think at this point everything has been done twice on Dad's car so you can imagine how he feels. 28 years and it isn't done.

Hang in there buddy. That's a really nice car because of the beautiful work you've done to it. You'll get there.
