BUILD THREAD Project Olds Cool (Recognition!!)

DUDE! That thing is straight, absolutely gorgeous! It looks amazing in pictures, can only imagine what it looks like in person.

Thanks brother!

Although it sucked at the time, this is where all those long hours going back and fixing the little (and sometimes not so little) areas really pays off. Block sanding the body to perfection is critical to getting that nice straight result and making the paint look beautiful.

A wise man once said, “the best paint job in the world won’t make poor bodywork look good, but good bodywork can make even a mediocre paint job look decent.”

Or something to that effect anyways.
😏

Simply amazing D . Have you decided on the finish for bumpers.

Possibly...
😉

I can’t wait to see what this car will look like when it’s all buttoned up.
I wish I could see it in person, that gray looks miles deep.

Thanks! You and me both man, I’m really looking forward to seeing it all put together at last after being blown apart for so long.

That thing is better than show car straight, ive seen cars roll out of full bore restoration shops and not look that good. Amazing job and its nice to see it getting all put back together. This is when all your checking and rechecking of part fitment will pay off as there shouldn't be any surprises.

Thanks Josh! Some pretty heady compliments from you for sure! Much appreciated.
No surprises so far, nor should there be at this stage. Hopefully it stays that way.

Man, that's the way paint OUGHT to look. Fan friggin tastic!

Thank you sir!!

A little sneak peek at what’s currently in the works...

I beginning to think that you either hate your fingertips or love sanding things.
I knew you were going to have something to say...

Sorry, I missed all the other build threads showing how to lay down perfection with a spray gun.
I like driving my cars too hard, too often to even think about putting that kind of time and effort into a paint job. I couldn't possibly enjoy driving it knowing a fly sneezed in its general direction, or 69hurst is running around it with a shopping cart.

Don’t you kids make me pull this car over! Do you need a time out???
Just wait until your father gets home...!

I'm going to make one of those clear decals that looks like a huge scratch on the paint and while someone distracts him, I'm laying it down across the hood. Fun would start in 3....2....1.... 🙂

And while you’re busy doing that, Ima steal your ‘69 Hurst Olds, put 32” wheels on it and turn it into a Donk. Oh, and have your wife sell your collection of NOS parts for what you told her you paid for them.
😉🤣

I don’t get mad, I get even.
