Two things:
You are getting those amazing factory 4x10 speakers ah dirty! Good news is you can just vacuum and air hose them out and they won't sound any worse . . . 😛
I noticed that too haha

Looking awesome as always!!
Awesome update, looking good!
Donovan,
No words . Absolutely amazing work. I have definitely been an unintentional hypocrite myself. You're not alone my friend!

I predict you will pretty up that 10 bolt rear before you are done. I noticed it right away when I started sticking all these shiny new parts on mine and, always garaged with only 28K miles, it wasn't that bad. Then I popped the cover to put on a Trickflow and all of this wonderful metal came out with the fluid. I mean a BUNCH! Don't remember what your plans were/are for under the hood when you are done but you might want to take a peek inside yours as well. Granted, mine could be a fluke but, I only have about 4000 miles on my rear with the big block but I haven't been that hard on it and only 24,000 before that with the 307 so I suspect by the 80s that perhaps the quality of the internals had gone down? Anyway, better safe than sorry . . .
Looking good dude!
I noticed that too haha
sorry I was to busy checking all your other work.........I am in awe.
exhaust tips, well I am the fence with them ,but way better than the square cut ..final answer go for it weld them up !!!
Dave
From the pics shown I'm good with them. They suit well and aren't oversize tuner-esque at all. I'd love to see them from a 10 foot standing point of view to confirm my thoughts.
Donovan,
To be honest I am not really a big fan of exhaust tips. I think a nice angle cut on the tailpipe is perfect. The tips you picked are very nice they look like they belong more on a newer car Camaro or Mustang . Sorry to be that guy. I did the same thing on cutlass with exhaust tips. On and off several times.
weld'em up! too small and short for ricer status, and tucked in enough to look good!
I'd tuck the tips in until the forward edge of the tip is parallel with the bottom edge of the trim. Maybe like 20mm. So basically if you were right above them you wouldn't see them. The tips themselves are pretty sharp.
Good to know your rear end is good to go. I assumed mine was since it is the original but nothing like seeing about a measuring cup full of metal filings in your fluid.
And wasn't ragging you on the speakers or the rusty rear. Those factory speakers are junk so I knew why they were full of debri. I threw mine in a drawer 30 years ago and threw in some 4x10 Pioneers [that didn't help the sound any] but I do still have them. The speaker/amp/sub set up over on my build thread should wake things up nicely.
Now, on that rear end . . . Precisely what I was thinking. Sleeper! I got one side done though with the new UMI control arms, Eibachs, and Bilsteins hadn't even gotten to the drum to disk conversion and it just looked ridiculous [not sleeper] having all these new shiny components hanging off of this old rusty rear. So, I started the clean, etch, and coat method in my thread and that was a waste of time and money but once I popped that cover and realized the internals were toast, then taking it out and properly blasting and coating it made more sense. Now, if I can just get that DONE!
I have called myself "do it twice Garth" on many occasions and it is rarely even my fault. But, if I can save someone else the time and money of "doing it twice" I at least want to speak up . . . beyond that, you do your own thing as I am sure you will.
