BUILD THREAD Project Olds Cool (Recognition!!)

I’m going to go against the grain here, with all due respect, and say the fender looks a bit congested now. Not sure where else you would put it though. Did you try the cutlass over w30? Or just one on the trunk?
I will add that I’m the guy that took every emblem off of my truck the day I got it home from the dealer, so keep that in mind.

Just to throw my little chocolate donut in the ring, I think it crowds the fender too much. The W-30 emblem barely belongs there. You've done so much to "clean" the car up; the badges look out of place.

Oh, and to the next a-hole "car expert", just tell them it's a 1 of 1 prototype GN with a sunroof before they made them black. The red car always gets me a "Still got the 442 in it?" Yeah, buddy, that's it....

Ever thought of placing the badges on the rear quarters? The only thing I could see needed for back there might be a little bigger Cutlass script.
Maybe over the rear marker light to balance it with the front?

Do what you want Donovan. It's your car. I wouldn't put the emblems on it. They look cheap and bulky to me. They just clash with the slick car (flushed side markers, body worked fiber optic indicators, etc.).

If you must put a "Rocket" or "Cutlass" on it, consider using a decal instead and don't put them both together on the fender. That's just too much. Either or on the fender, as a decal would look good, in my opinion.

I doubt the clown at the car show will know what a Rocket is so don't do it for that reason.

I have to agree, I basically did the same thing after a bunch of questions on what my car was when everything was debadged. On mine I am OK with just the front and rear Chevrolet decals, I did replace the front emblem itself for something close to stock but had my own flair. That might be something worth doing on yours, this guy is very good and does some really cool stuff. Then you can totally make it as you want and have some stock similarities to fit what you've done all throughout

Rebadge

I also like the Cutlass and emblem placement. Was the W-30 even an option code that year or was to try and fool people that a mid 16 second car was fast? I thought it screamed, yeah this car is not quite as slow as most cars😉. Olds should have put a 403 in H/O and 442 in 78 and 79, probably would have ran mid 15's, smoking fast for the late 70's. Of course it was a road rocket compared to the 76 and 77 260 powered car. The 5 sod manual is cool but not behind a 260. There is another high dollar one for sale, they rebuilt the drivetrain a 39,000 km probably because it felt sluggish🤣. They added dual exhaust but I would have also added 3.55 gears with the .80 overdrive around 2100 rpm at 60 mph. It might actually sell then. Either way, Donovan will reply with a polite answer while giving us the finger because it is his car with a million hours to make it exactly how HE wants it. I am seriously jealous, I hate how my 88 looks. There are some very nice looking mid 80's Camaro and Firebird's for sale with nice paint in my price range. There is an 83 Camaro, metallic brown with a 305 HO and probably a TH350C. He actually has close up shots of how nice the paint looks, I want something to polish other than our Challenger which my wife hoards. It is screaming for my Olds 350, 2004R and 3.42 gears from my 88 in a lighter package. I wish I had your patients and the skill would also help. Just us jealous guys dogging your hard work.
