Posting the grey paint pics around the front windshield unannounced was my way of discretely letting the cat outta the bag..

and yes, even though it took a couple minutes to hit me, I from the pics, I knew some kind of 2 tone was coming, just didn't know the scheme it was going to be in! looking forward to seeing it complete!
Darin, knowing how Donovan likes to be sneaky, I'm sure he has some crazy *ss ideas up his sleeve on how to execute the two tone and give it that 442 scheme with attitude!!!!
Maybe he will shed some light at some point, or just surprise everybody! Regardless, it will definitely look cool, Olds Cool

Well, after weeks of seemingly nothing worth doing updates on, now things are happening very quickly.
I'm not feeling the greatest here today (probably a combination of long days, the heat and not enough sleep), so I'm going to do some keyboard wrenching as opposed to as much actual wrenching today.
First off, several days ago I promised some of you pics of the new exhaust tips outside from a bit of a distance, so I'll throw these up first.
The angles and perspectives may not be the greatest, but it is what it is.
Driver's side:
Passenger's side:
In addition, I also promised pics of the new paint outside in the sunshine for the full effect.
Here's those ones:
The rear window channel and package tray, painted in the factory original Cameo White:
The front windshield channel and "A" pillars painted in the new, second color, Sterling Grey:
While I had the car outside, I took some overall pics, from a bit of a distance to try and get a feel for how it's going to look with it's new paint scheme and stance with the 442 rear springs in it.
It's looking a little rough around the edges to be honest at this point, but they've always gotta look worse before they start to look better.
As far as the stance is concerned, it's still sitting a little high in the back for my liking, but then there's no weight back there right now either.
I'm thinking it should lose a little altitude back there once the trunklid, back window, back seat, interior etc all go back in.

On Wednesday night, my dad came by for a visit. Now that the back window channel has been repaired and painted, I don't need the easy access to it anymore that having the trunklid off afforded me, so I had him give me a hand throwing it back on.
After he left, I realigned it and tightened it back down. One more piece back on the car, and a bit more room back in the shop.
The glass guys were scheduled to come the next day, so I started preparing for them to come do their thing. I dug through my stash of oddball parts, and located two pristine condition plastic blocks for supporting the back window.
I brought out the back window from it's safe storage in the basement, and carefully unpackaged the wrapping it had on it to protect the new tint:
After that I turned my attention to getting the front ready.
The front supports for the windshield were hammered, they had none of the rubber cushioning left on them:
(How does that even happen?)
Again diving into my stash of parts, I located the two that were originally on The Brown Bomber. These ones were in much better shape, and had all their rubber.
I cleaned them all up and gave 'em a fresh coat of paint:
I'm not looking to do a full nut and bolt restoration on every single part of the car, but I can't justify reinstalling crusty old stuff either. Might as well refurbish that stuff while I'm at it.

Well, I solved the mystery behind it.
When I first saw it mounted like this under the stainless cowl, I (incorrectly) thought it was the antenna bulkhead already in place that I thought I needed.
However when I removed it, I come to find it's merely a blank. While it has the provision to attach the wire from the windshield on the outside, the backside is solid plastic, with nothing else there:
Again returning to the parts from The Brown Bomber, I located the proper piece I needed to attach to the radio.
Here's what I actually needed:
I gave the face of it the same cleanup treatment, and more fresh paint.
(This pic is kinda deceiving, I punched a hole in a box and routed the cable inside so only the outer portion was exposed)

Here is the proper antenna bulkhead connector, now installed after its restoration. I still have to go in underneath the dash and plug the new antenna into the radio, but that can be done at a later date.
Seeing the above pic, I forgot to mention and post pics about the lower section that the windshield sits on. I did not paint it after epoxy like the upper 3 areas as it had to be painted satin black to match the cowl and firewall areas. Well, as you can already tell, that got done too.
Early Thursday afternoon, the glass guys showed up right on schedule.
I can't say enough nice things about them, they were courteous, respectful, clean and efficient. They had no issues whatsoever in working with me in a couple small areas.
The back window had some fairly deep scratches at the top just below where the upper moulding sat. They worked with me, and shimmed the window so it would sit up as high as possible, thereby hiding the scratches under the upper moulding now.
The back window now in place after installation:
They were also kind enough to bring and install all new clips for the mouldings.
Brand new (proper) front windshield installed!
The mouldings themselves will not go back on yet. I still need them off until the roof and surrounding areas have been painted. They'll be one of the last things that go back on the car.
After they had left, I turned my attention to reinstalling the parts that needed to go back on over the base of the windshield.
Stainless cowl, windshield wipers, wiper arm stops, etc.
One of the areas that needed the most attention were the two brackets that support the stainless cowl on the passenger's side.
I didn't take any "before" pics, but they were plenty ugly. They had a ton of old dried out seam sealer gobbed all over them, and on the exposed portions, the galvanized coating was badly oxidized and powdery.
They got the same restoration and paint procedure as the other parts:
Here they are now installed before the stainless cowl goes back on:
I removed and repeated this same process with the windshield wiper squirters as well.
I think it adds a nice bit of detail to the area, as well as protecting the parts for many more years to come.
And that brings us up to date again.
This afternoon's projects will include reinstalling the stainless cowl, the wiper arm stops, and figuring out how to nicely refurbish the wiper arms.
Now that the glass and the trunklid are back in/on the car, it's starting to look a lot more complete again finally!
Next up in the following few days, I'll return to finishing off the last of the rust removal that's still outstanding on the passenger's side sail panel. It's been quite a while since I left off doing that.

I don't really have any "crazy *ss schemes" up my sleeve, for the most part I'm just looking to closely duplicate the factory two tone paint layout that came on these cars.
Yes, I will indeed be making a few minor changes here and there, but it will only serve to put my own "stink" on it, and improve where I think GM could have.
I've been working closely with an individual on how to improve on the rear area of the car, I never cared for the single block of second color on the trunklid. It just looks too disconnected from the rest of the car in my opinion.
Between this individual (who will remain unnamed at this time) and I, I feel that we've come upon a elegant option that should make the overall package look a lot better.
Unfortunately for you guys, I'm going to play these plans close to my chest for a while, until I get to that point!
