Rear end gears

Your fuel mileage may actually suffer. Sometimes the lowest numerical gear is the worst for everything. I bet if you switched to a 3.23 your mpg would improve, as well as performance.

the fuel mileage does suffer in city driving and if you keep it around 70 on the highway you'll get decent gas mileage...I had 2.41 then went to 3.42 but I didn't like that gear so it's 3.08's for me

For a real driver stuck with an old 3 speed a 3.08 or 3.23 is usually the ideal compramise gear. Most of the acceleration of a quarermile gear but still good mileage and driveability with reasonable rpm or wear.

I've always preferred 3.23's for a driver and a 3 speed. Even an overdrive transmission sometimes.
