They have been doing that for a long time now. A small part I can usually get Priority Mail pretty cheaply but once it is bigger than a small box it goes FedUp. As mentioned you put your items in the cart and then go shopping. A little truck will now appear on any item that comes from the same place as the first item. I switch items around by brand just to get them all coming from the same place but sometimes that is not possible.

I've also started shopping for the same exact brand parts on Amazon and found several times that not only is the part cheaper, but also with free shipping...

I've found that A and RA are usually neck and neck once everything is figured up.

I don't use Amazon much anymore. The prices are not as competetive, shipping is high, tax is collected. I refuse to pay for "free" shipping with Prime. What a racket.

Yep, always do the math. That thing you thought in 6th grade that you'd never use....

Obviously if you are buying the same exact brand/part then buy it the cheapest place shipped that you can. And check your local dealer and or store. Sometimes they have price match deals so you can buy local and still get the same or better price. I always like to try to buy local if possible, but sometimes, it's just not that great of a deal, plus, they tell you 2 days to get it, but it can be at your house in 2 days giving you a chance to get a good drunk on and pass out for two days, and have the delivery person ring the door bell to wake your *ss up.

I do Prime because I don't do Netflix anymore. Saves about 11 bucks per month, thus it kinda pays for itself. Plus, if you spend more than $35 I think, you get free shipping on a lot of crap anyway.

like Driven said if you gather all the items from one warehouse it really helps. There is a little flag that shows when you pull your order.
Up here we get "hosed" for Duty as well. But still I bought a ignition tumbler for my gas truck, dual battery cables for the diesel, 8 glow plugs, and some Fuel \ Air filters for 2 trucks for about the same that my local jobber wanted for just the cables and tumbler ( thank goodness I have a US Funds account ). They said 5-7 days for shipping via FedEx Ground. I got an email 90 mins after my order stating it was picked with a tracking number. FedEx express dropped it to my dock in 2 days

Keep in mind that the post office raised their rates a couple weeks ago. This may be part of the increase that you are seeing.
