I don't use Amazon much anymore. The prices are not as competetive, shipping is high, tax is collected. I refuse to pay for "free" shipping with Prime. What a racket.
Prime makes sense if you use Amazon a lot. We do, like probably 3-4 deliveries per week. So, yes, it costs money to get the "free" shipping. But over the course of a year the shipping savings ads up.
That might be the way to go but it will depend on what you are buying. I found the Olds diesel pan gasket and intake gaskets on clearance for half of what summit is selling them for but both come from warehouse D, maybe the clearance warehouse? They are considerably cheaper than Summit and carry more brands for rebuilder parts.

I run every part# through Amazon, for comparison. If it's STOCKED and SHIPPED through Amazon, it's almost always cheaper than the competition. Here's the deal... You, and Me, can sell on Amazon, as 3rd party sellers. My price on VR1 oil, is NOT going to be as cheap as Amazon's, and MY oil will not qualify for Prime's " free shipping ", because I'm a 3rd party seller. So any item that is STOCKED and SHIPPED through Amazon will qualify for Prime's free shipping. Almost guaranteed to be cheapest option. I am a Prime member. Now, add in my Amazon Employee discount, and I got the upper hand on ALOT of purchases. I'm also a huge JEGS supporter. They carry items that Amazon does not. They send me MANY discount offers. They also " price match ", and offer free shipping over $99. So, I wait until I have $99 worth of stuff in " My Cart " and then use my discount offer, and as most of you know... That's how I do it. So as stated above, in a previous post, do the math, Google your part #'s, and you may be surprised how far you can stretch that dollar. I'll end this on a Positive note for Rock Auto... they sell Mopar parts. So that water pump I needed for my Hemi Ram, was $220 at the dealer. NOT!! I started looking around... the same Mopar part # on Rock Auto was $140 = SOLD. 😊
It's like everything else in life....if you don't do your homework and take the easy/lazy way out, it's going to cost you.
Like others, I always look at alternatives if there's going to be more than one warehouse involved. Usually, there is a way to get the good brands with a little selective part management.
Very occasionally, i find O'Reilly to be cost competitive. Bought a trans cable for a few cents more than Rock's price this week
Jegs and Summit are OK, but 3 days from Arlington TX to OKC for an in-stock item? Orders are picked fast and ready for shipment, but seems like their pickups take longer than others
