I do not know if this guy is kidding or what. He's always stating things that are wrong, then his comments cannot be seen when I log in. He said "Epoxy Satin" > "Absolute Joke"

Don't ask for help then slam someone because you don't like their answer.

You might as well tremclad it, seems like that's right up your alley

* No one asked for your two cents sonny.

I've been using PPG semi-gloss lacquer that I've horded over the years but thats my way (good cleaning, self etch primer, lacquer.) Simple/easy fix-engine enamel, good enough for the block, good enough for everything else.

* Thanks very much, agreed. In reality, my car still has the factory lacquer, banned these days. Is self-etch primer necessary? I was just going to use (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Ol...+tgr:{Exact+match}+qu:{rust-oleum+2089830}:qu ). Do you believe that will suffice or is self etch primer better?

I like to use self etch primer to make sure I have a base that has a good bite in the bare metal & what paint may be left. Depending how things look I may use a high build primer to level things out or regular automotive to ad as a build coat. For the Rustoleum it would be OK but if using the engine enamel I'd use the matching primer.

Thanks. Most appreciated. I believe that I'll be using semi-gloss, not gloss as brought to my attention, apparently adjoining GM paint properties that I was unaware.

I painted mine last year, I wet sanded all the rust off. I used black Duplicolor sandable primer, followed by Duplicolor low gloss black engine enamel. It looks a little duller than the original paint. Seems to be standing up well.
