Shifter cable ???'s

I have a 79 Chevy Malibu buckets and console car with a 350 transmission I am going to be converting it over to a 700R transmission I know I have to shorten the drive shaft and all that but will the original shifter cable bolt to the 700 R4 transmission pan or what do I need to do for it to bolt to the 700 R4 transmission pan thanks

I used stock shifter cable for 80’s camaro w/ 305. used stock camaro shift bracket and lever at trans. modified cutlass shifter in pics below to accept 700 cable end

Your factory shifter is a 3 speed you will need a 4 speed shifter now or you will have to modfiy the gate in the 3 speed shifter

Yeah i know about the shifter not getting low gear but im asking about the shifter bracket that bolts to the transmission pan can the bracket work with the 700r4 transmission pan?THANKS

I dont believe the bolt holes will line up B@M marks a bracket that fits them all.

I would try to find a bracket from a 3rd generation Camaro or Firebird using a 700-R4. You might also need to replace the cable, but you won't know until you try it.

They don't indicate the cable bracket though.

Once you have the right bracket you could then determine whether the cable will be compatible with the 700 trans.

Is the 350 cable the same as the 700 R4 or 200 R4 shifter cable as for fitting in the bracket
