That kinda looks like a FWD spare. I like it, though.
Is that the spare out of your Monte Carlo?

I do find it odd that GM would use a aluminum spare rim on a G-body. Although, there's a good chance that it came out of a different type car...or not. GM has done some weird stuff over the years. Have you ever had to use it on your car? I'm just wondering how it fits clearance wise. Also, could you take a quick measurement of the diameter?

Main issue I see with that is cost. Wheel at $138 and tire at $80. About $235 once shipping and tax is added to that wheel. Another issue is that it's a 25" diameter which is a smaller than his rear tires. That's probably OK since the tire isn't supposed to be run more than about 70 miles. Once it's there, it's done. Not recommended to go over 50mph either.
So there's a major limitation as well as a high cost.

Want bigger brakes? Pay the bigger brakes tax. Want a spare that fits your big brakes and fits in the stock location for the original 14" donut? You pay that tax.

Any deviation from stock gets you coming up with creative or expensive solutions.

Never had it on. I'll have to try it later to see how it fits. I've always had a 195 75 14 or a 205 75 14 in the car as a spare when the Monte was on the road in the past.

Thanks man. Don't go crazy taking wheels off of your car to try it out....unless, of course you already have a wheel off.
As of now, I'm using a 195/75 x 14 for a spare. I don't want to go smaller than a 25" diameter using at least a 15" rim, if i can help it....and I'm not looking to spend a boatload of money on a spare tire and rim. If possible, I'd like to do it within a limited budget using OEM parts. I don't have deep pockets, as I'm no longer gainfully employed.
