Well I decided after I catch up on a few chores around the house it's truck day sence the trans in the 78 has me flared up like a mad pack of hemorrhoids.

It's been so long since I touched it I had to read the thread to kinda see were I was 4 months ago with the new bed on it it's kinda hard to park without mirrors so as insignificant as it is I think I'll start there so I don't back into my trailer again. I figure even if I only do small stuff at least something is getting done because I really need to get this truck drivable. I'll be on it on and off today and get up with the thread later

Between all my yard work and chores I managed to finally mount the mirrors I picked up at the swap meet last spring and I started making a wire harness for the taillights. The heat got to me so after my break I'll get you some pictures. I don't really like the mirrors but I got to be able to see around the boxes

any progress is good progress, and gives you time to cool the temper on the other build!

Finished up the taillight harness and installed the tail lights tonight. There not my favorite but they will get me on the road. I haven't tested them yet because it rained all day and I don't want to lay in the mud to ground the harness. Still need to get 2 Amber LEDs for the front of the box and wire them and the license plate light. I'm planning to mount the plate high on one of the boxes but I haven't decided on left or right quarter? I'm thinking right were the hoist will go because the welder and compressor will go on the left. My theory is plowing curb lines with low hanging branches there's less risk of damages if there on the left and if branches hit a hoist or an air tank I can deal with scraches. I am thinking I probably need to go back to custom carberetor rebuilder Saturday morning to pick up the carb for the 78 so on my way up I'll stop at the steel place in wall and pick up some scraps. That way I can sister the floor brace we're I need to cut it for the fuel filler. It will be the first time sence I had it that it had a working gas tank

Looking good Eric. If it had been me, I would have gone with west coast mirrors, but they are a little more 'medium duty' than the standard towing mirrors. I totally agree with how you have the mirrors themselves swapped from left to right. Old school mod that keeps it from looking like Dumbo. Keep up the good work. You should paint it the same shade of blue as your uncle's fleet.

There factory 85 up square body 3500 mirrors. There ment to to fold in like that on dually pickups when your not Towing the head spins around and you flip it over to extend them out. When I'm driving it I'll have to go with the Dumbo look to see around the boxes and the welder but here in the yard I can just use the blind spot mirrors. Besides if I fold them out now I'll probably break them on the fence or a tree lol
The plan is yes definitely I'm going to make it look like an additional truck in the family fleet green with white stripes and cowel hood. I'll even be using the same font for my lettering but I may add some graphics to break up the brick of a bed

I didn't realize the mirror would flip over. All these years I thought guys were swapping the left and right mirrors. I learned something today.
