If you have a good ground to the engine and +12V at the "S" wire (which means you are getting +12V at the big post on the starter), then the starter or solenoid must be bad. Who tested it for you? How competent did the person seem?

it tested at autozone and they might not have known what they were doing I think I will try a new starter because it should be working

I'm not too big on Auto Zone or their parts.

I don't really know how they could incorrectly test the starter. Presumably they just apply power to it and see if it runs. Pretty hard to screw up. Not saying its not the starter. Just seems strange.

Yes I was a bit skeptical when I tested it my self and found it must have been the starter but I changed and it works a bit weird but I'm glad it is running 🙂

I'm thinking they bypassed the solenoid to test the starter and never tested the solenoid

Possibly. Just seems like they would have figured out by now to test the solenoid as their goal is to sell you a starter if yours is broke. Perhaps I have too much faith in auto parts store workers.
