There are differences in whether the wiper switch is on the column or not, whether it is intermittent or not, whether it is tilt or not, whether it is column shift or not, whether the wiper switch provides hot to the wipers or ground to the wipers, and I think the early columns have a different end on the shaft where the intermediate shaft goes, so yes, lots of differences.
