I prefer a factory look, so I like the T/A wheel for a GP. Of the two you posted, I like the first one simply because it looks more factory, but I agree that wheel with a wood rim on it would probably look pretty good and really match the dash.

Based on appearance, I'd go with the foam wheel. However, I have never liked the cheap feel of Grant wheels. Had a beautiful mahogany wheel on a 67 camaro, but the wheel just didn't seem very stout.

Below is the first mod I made to my new wagon when I got it home. The OE wheel rim was pencil-thin..just can't deal with that. The original medallion fit right into the Z wheel.

For the Pick-A-Part guys, check the 80's Buicks for a nice, thick leather-wrapped wheel, especially Rivieras and Park Avenues. I pried the Buick emblem out of the center and fabbed a duplicate from a sheet of plastic. A paper bowtie behind the plastic made it look at home in my Camino. The color actually matches, but the camera flash makes it look lighter than the rest of the interior.

Bill,
That's a great looking wheel in your car. I prefer the OE style wheels over the Grant wheels. I think alot of the Grant wheels have a cheap appearance. I know I've passed up those particular Buick wheels in the junque yard.
I have had the 4-spoke F-body style wheel in my car like the one Ribbedroof displayed. It actually came out of an early Cavalier. I later swapped for a Monte Carlo SS style wheel out of a Citation Eurosport. Burgundy in color.

Was your wheel that color, or did you paint it? By the way, you need to find a factory tach to fill up your dash.

Ah ha! I may have found the best of both worlds. I found this one from a Riv and it even has some woodgrain in the button to match the dash. Coming up with an arrowhead won't be a problem.

Ding! Ding! Ding! I think you found a winner. 🙂 Good choice.

Jack,
This one got painted. My first Buick wheel was actually a good match right out of the boneyard, but I eventually came to dislike the oval-shaped profile of the rim. I bought two others, my current Buick wheel and a 70's Chevy 4 spoke rally wheel. Both got painted with Dupont Lucite interior paint somewhere around 1997. I hear you about the tach. When I've seen one available, I didn't have the spare cash. Still hoping for a reasonably-priced one to come around.

Hey Steve, I think you kit the nail dead-on. That Riv wheel looks good and will fit great. I like the gp emblem you will put in the center, nice little cutom touch that still looks factory.

Bonnewagon, thanks for the details, I will do the same on mine when I get it out of storage in April. No more black wheel against a blue columm.

That wheel's going to look great. Or, you could make a bitchin' set of GP cufflinks!
