Strange noise...

No. Sorry I haven't even fathomed a chance to get to the car. Between work, Christmas duties, and coming down with the the flu Monday I've been outta commission.

I will get to the bottom of it, and render an update.
Sorry to hear you caught the flu. Hope you feel better soon.

Don't rush trying to get over the flu, I caught the flu last fall and being self employed I tried to ignore it and after I couldn't breath or sleep I went to get checked out I had with pneumonia and after a couple of weeks I ended up with fluid around the lung. Due to my inconsiderate boss I didn't take any time off of work but that takes alot longer to recover.

Ever thought about getting a lawyer & sue him for abuse? I bet the doctor, I mean judge might find something for you. 😛

My 6.0L Yukon XL had "Piston Slap" or a "Noisy Lifter" for 60K miles, until I took it to a guy for something else, and he said "You know you have a Cracked Flexplate, right?". I had never heard of such a thing.

It had a 360 degree crack, that didn't spin-fail because it was so jagged. I have many friends with 6.0L's and I have told them they have cracked flex plates, too, based on the noise.

That is bizarre! I have a Trailblazer SS with an LS2 6.0 After I converted to a 4L80E, I've gone through 3 flexplates in 3 years (over 90K miles). First one was a strong TCI (SFI rated) that cracked along all three converter mounting points. The other 2 were stock flexplates and did the 360 crack around the crank mounting point.

It's driving my Transmission guy crazy. He's checked everything trans related and can't find an issue there. I didn't think about the crankshaft end play as a possible culprit. I'll be watching this thread as everything unfolds.

Hutch
