Yes, but I'll save work in the long run (hopefully) by cutting that spring. I also found a few monza's in a junkyard near me, do you think it's a direct swap?

I'm thinking about shaping the end after I cut to match the old springs, but then it's hard to tell how much drop I'll get after it settles.

or, 140 lb/in on the rear isn't that radical, is there a 1.5" drop spring with about the same rate?

got a link? who makes em?

I think I'll just stick to the 6377 and see how they work, if I can't get them perfect I'll look into some drop springs or A body ones later

that spring rate is at free height....at load height the spring rate at 10.25 is 485 which is actually less than the highest rated stock spring by about 300 lbs compared to the G body spring with a free height spring rate of 142...if your vehicle weight is enough to compress the Monza spring to 9" you'll have a spring rate of 661 which is still less than the G body spring by 70 lbs with the G body spring at 10.25 compressed height. The G body spring compressed to 9" would have a 909 spring rate

I just read on another forum the monza spring would lower a G body by about 1/2"

Oh I see, the G body is also a thicker diameter. But then the A-body 5413 also looks too low when compared with the G body 5391

it does and that's why you need to find out the rear weight of the cars to calculate where it's going to sit...

GM pigtails suc....without them it'd be a snap to set up the spring you want..

Sounds like coils will be going in last then

I'm looking at 5409, maybe after I take measurements this could be the one to go with... I'll do those calculations later, for now I've gotta finish the engine!

it's easy to adapt the spring perch on the axle housing and if I was going to change the top pocket I'd install the adjustable housing we uses on the metric circle track car...
