BUILD THREAD Sweet Johnny & Gina: A Love "Two Large" To Fail

With the pan still off and if you can afford it. Get the M55HV with the steel shaft. Those gears in the oil pump worn by now plus probably pitted up with all the lifter wear.

The nylon connector probably long gone or soon will be. O'Reilly's had the steel for about 10, the pump around 35 ish. With all that metal, new screen and pickup also.

I would pull # 1 rod cap and # 1 main. Just look at bearings see how bad they are or if ok.
I really, really wanted to do both of those things but in the end did neither, as time and funds stipulated that I couldn't. I thought I had a spare one piece shaft but I guess I used it, and I considered replacing the nylon piece since I have some but there just wasn't time. I did use 6 cans of brake cleaner while scrubbing the engine though...

I'm afraid the coming update won't be as impressive as I'd hoped since I had to make many compromises and flat out abandon things I thought I had completely planned out. Every single step I took on Thursday was a struggle and nothing went right at all, probably because I said it would go smoothly. And it was my most productive day of the entire week. Despite the tribulations I managed to get everything together with the exception of the exhaust system, and hope to break in the cam tonight after work. It was too late to run open headers when I finished up last night.

Cam got broken in at 8:30 with headers, collector extensions, and turndowns. 😀😀 My mufflers were slated to arrive today but are still in another state, and I haven't started running the exhaust system yet anyway.

We want to hear it... Save a vid to Youtube. I can't believe how casual you all are about changing a cam. It's like changing plug or something... lol. They don't make a cam that could make a 260 better. lol

They do ... Use the original W30 grind, but it would be pointless on that engine with those heads.

I did record a short video but can't post to YouTube until I get a "real" cell phone number. I currently just use an app but they don't accept those.

As for changing the cam, it's not bad but I did stand there thinking "Wtf am I doing?" once or twice after it was torn apart. It's all stuff I've done before but it's been a while so doubt started creeping in. I wouldn't want to do an "in car" cam swap often but I'd do it again before attempting to build a differential like you did.

Cam swap is pretty impressive. It took 2 months to build that rear and we still don't know if it's going to hold up... lol.

Yep. If you find a 106 LSA ... 310 [email protected], And lift of about .230 with stock rockers....

Sound mean, idle like crap, and fall on its face when you give it gas. Oh yeah I forgot ... 260 already got that covered...

Plan #2: 3/8 drill bit, drill two holes back of muffler one on each side of the outlet. Would do about the same thing.
