Seriously though add dual exhaust with quiet mufflers and maybe rebuild the carb along with a complete tune up for the 3.8 if you are looking for mileage.
He can't time a SBC but you want him to do a complete tune up and rebuild a carb, let's not get carried away here.

Good point. Yet he can time a diesel, go figure.

Problem is, you are trying to rape your Pontiac with a Chevy motor and it is putting up a struggle🙂. Seriously though add dual exhaust with quiet mufflers and maybe rebuild the carb along with a complete tune up for the 3.8 if you are looking for mileage. I was pleasantly surprised by the Olds 260 I am running, same hp but 20 more ft/lbs of torque.
I plan on after getting the motor/trans in the car just to drive it Occasionally for spring and summer Then see how I like the power/etc
Going to do Duals for sure, probably Flow Master 40s I kinda like it loud! 😀

The motor I'm getting has a new Distributor, cap rotor & Rebuild DualJet Carb Still has all Emissions on it though.
Might do an Edelbrock Performer 500 CFM Carb, and Holly Street Dominator Intake. If I can find one. But Ya I do like my MPGs... My 6.2 Diesel gets me around 23-25 Which is really good for an almost 40 yr old V8 Diesel engine with 130 peak hp.

I've only ever rebuild my Carb from my Farmall MD Diesel, and Farmall Cub. Tractors but still 😀

Yeah never really messed with V8s that's why I don't know. Didn't care to learn.

Grew up Detroit Diesel 2-Strokes... Mostly In Construction Equipment I being myself a Concrete & Construction worker you kinda gotta know that stuff.
Unless the boss Calls in a Mechanic and it's $340 per/hr and takes 3 days. Nahhh I'll do it myself haha

I'm loosing faith in you - you asked for a V-6 w/trans, sent you 42,000 mi take out w/ trans in your back yard (all for $100) and you blew it off - don't know how much more drop-in you can get it and the 250 trans was available 69-86. I've worked on every Yamaha Diesel they made and timing is simple - surprised you didn't google it. This is a great forum and if you don't understand or know something just ask.
