^^ what he said. 3 front are all coolant, I use the one you have marked as heater and capped the other 2. Egr is egr, the one behind the carb is manifold vacuum.

Ok. thanks, axis. Good to know what the carb one is.

The intake specs said its not x-over plumped for EGR. "To hook up EGR with this intake, following parts are required:10220275 EGR pipe, 12552329 fitting, vortec exhaust manifold # 12557828, 12557828DT (tapped for O2 sensor) or ED1476 weld-on fitting kit for use with headers."

But you are running yours with no issues. So will follow suit.

Full Disclosure I don't run the CC system so my EGR is mounted, and there is a hose hooked up to it but a blockoff plate sandwiched in between. Just trying to keep the car "visually" emissions complete

Picking up a transmission from a junkyard today. Hoping it is the right one. Coming out of an 82 Monte. Go to know I found a parts car if I need anything. An hour from house but oh well they have one. Water pump came in yesterday. Going to try and get transmission and motor mated Sunday and installed in the car.

Anyone have a set of Vortec exhaust manifolds. I am probably not going to use the Long tube headers. Also, saw the the gear indicator broke. Going to need to pick one up off of eBay unless anyone has a spare here.

gear indicator broke or the clip came off the column ? Its a wire on a clip that moves as the column moves.
Does the heads on the new motor not have the extra bolt hole to re-use the 305 manifolds ?

the Orange Indicator broke. The clip where the spring/cable hooks on broke and you can see it laying there. Need to pull the cluster and look at it. Since I am running the EGR and the GM intake, I wanted to use the Vortec exhaust with the Nipple for the EGR tube. I know I can cap the AIR ports and use the 305 ones.

Got the intake mounted, water pump installed, transmission mounts bolted up, and various other odds and ends done. I ordered a bunch of stuff the last two days. Need to put the valve covers on, distributor on, plug wires, hoses, exhaust manifolds, and start on the accessories. I purchased the Shop manual, Service manual, and electrical supplement for $45 for all 3 off eBay. Should help get things going without rethinking or looking up everything. Finding time to tinker and money to order parts is the task.

Summer took its toll on the project. Was way too hot in South Texas to do anything. Cooling off so hope to restart.
Change in plans as we bought my middle daughter a better car for college. So the youngest daughter is getting her sister's Mustang. Keeping the Monte for myself.

Things to get going: headers, distributor, plugs, mount accessories, exhaust and fuel system. Thinking about going Holley EFI and pulling the computer and all the other stuff. Already removed emmissions so why not. Anyone have experience with Holley or FiTech? Any preferences and why?
