Check to make sure you have good hot spark. I know you just tuned it up. I'm wondering if one of your new parts may be letting you down. I'm also wondering if it might be the sock in the tank on the fuel pickup.
Good Idea I'm going to run the engine off a fuel tank.
I say just go for it and drop the sbc in. I've had a couple 307 run great, and a couple that just would hardly run... which is why I have a 359 sbc in my cutlass now.
Its all that emissions junk that makes it feel like I'm looking for a needle in a hey stack. A trans kit and an oil pan is all I need for the swap. I'll run open headers lol.

Got the Engine to run again few days ago. After hacking the cat off. The carb was blocked up. I took it off and tried cleaning it. Realized the secondaries where seized shut. :mrgreen:The carb was trash blocked somewhere inside not letting the fuel flow to primaries. So I bought a junker off a big boat (Buick Le Sabre) Woke right up no hesitation. Cheap fix $30. With the secondaries working it picks up quickly. Sadly it started running rougher. Long story short, after beating on it and pulling some 1st gear peels. Timing went South. Going to change the chain now. Oh well guess you pay to play. Well worth it. Smile on my brothers face was priceless. Keep in mind there is no exhaust 😎
Besides the timing chain and gears which were $40. I ordered a trans filter with gasket, Headliner, and Door hinge bushing set. Debating on buying the 2" cowl hood now or later. Body work is first. Since the chassis is practically (only have to bend up some brake lines) ready Im going to focus of getting the body painted. I'm on the fence about the hood...

I think the stock hood looks cleaner. Just my $0.02.

I think a 2" is subtle yet retains the aggressive look of a muscle car. I don't know who's car this is but it sure is purty. Not to mention the 3 H/O's in the background.

Long way to go but it will get there.

Forget it, if I'm going to do body now might as well get it "done and done". Hoods on its way. Have so much to do but so little time. There is no easy way out. Body work is a pain. If the repairs are somthing I can do I'll do it. Header panel, front bumper, and Right fender are going in.

So did you order the 2" steel cowl hood from Gbodyparts?

What is the hurried schedule? Though most of my problem getting things done is just advanced age and health issues, when I start stressing over getting it done, I just start making mistakes. Now, that doesn't mean you should take 2 months to change your ratso frackin motsa blackin

broken electric antenna like I did but most of that was just "me" dealing with the aggravation of it all. When something that should be simple is harder than pulling the engine and transmission . . . I have to keep walking away or I will end up breaking something. Wrapping that up finally, I just tonight got all 4 corners up so I can start the "pro-touring" build. Guess I need to go update that thread, not yours, huh?

Looks like you are making progress . . .

Put those things away before you hurt yourself lol

"Dropping the Hammer" I guess lol. I know I'm not the only person here who can't keep their hands still for long and not turn a wrench. And I guess an "End Goal" but it's all a mirage, there's never an end to this hobby lol. The progress has just begun.

Too true . . . too true. And, since I intended to buy all the parts piecemeal so I didn't have a bunch of dollars wrapped up right off the bat [can't do it all at once especially at the speed I move], that July 4th sale plus 18 months no interest naturally advanced my schedule. Saved almost $1000 on the entire package. So, I say I am not in a hurry but, truth be known, I am now wanting to get her done before the fall car show season starts. Before, I intended this to primarily be a project for the coming winter . . . but I cannot stand seeing all these cool shiny parts sitting here on my basement floor.

Um, after the 2 month down time for the electric antenna swap, did I mention I am having driving withdrawals? So, I am in a hurry too . . . just not TOO BIG of a hurry!
