Thanks yea me neither I plan on using the "Cowl Induction" emblem on the hood from a 70-72 Chevelle. So it will appear stock.
I also had my head liner material sent to get sewn up. Once that's back I can apply it to my headliner board and then its interior installation time. Post pics when I get that.

Progress on the hood...
got the seams sealed up with fiberglass filler then sanded down to a even surface.

Then threw on some body filler to cover it up then sanded it once more for a perfect even surface.

This is the corner with some damage looks like they just left this hood on the way it was. The two pieces that are held together separated and cracked the seams. So I bought some fiberglass epoxy and two good heavy duty clamps to hold the two together. See how it turns out tomorrow.
Also grabbed some paint for the underside and the top. Flat HIGH heat paint for the underside. The top will get primed then painted black twice then use alot of elbow grease to polish it up haha.

Looking good OldsOne, keep up the nice work. Kudos to you for taking on that hood project. A lot of people would've passed up that hood simply due to the condition. They're just not prepared to commit to doing the necessary repair(s). In this case, their loss really is your gain! I've seen your attention to detail, and I know it'll turn out great. Keep the pics coming as you progress. 🙂

Thanks much. Yea its true most people will pass but I guess that's what separates hot roders from not roders. Hah. And why not buying an out of the box hood wouldn't feel as rewarding.

Before I headed to work I went to check the hood out to see if the epoxy worked, and it did! No surprise from the epoxy that stuff is strong. More work after work...😵 sounds like I don't rest.

Me either. Work all day, dinner, then the night shift on the car.
Lol
Wouldn't have it any other way I guess!

That hole is for the light bulb I'm guessing. I didn't mess with that not serious. But as you can see epoxy really helps.

Pics of the repaired corner now its good as new. Next step is to get it painted up. I already sanded it down to a nice surface just no pic of that. I don't want to fume up my house spray painting in the basement though. Hah. Maybe I can prime it up and when time comes I can paint it outside...or in my garage...
Ill take a pic of the underside when painted. I did throw on a light coat too. I feel like spring could not get here any sooner!

I doubt that hole is for a lightbulb. If you compare where the hole is to where the hood sits on the car in the closed position, you'll find its inside (back of) the weatherstrip. That hole would be inside the cowl area by the wiper arm. Doesn't make sense for it to be there, not even for wiring for an underhood light. I suspect somebody made that hole, possibly for drainage of any water that makes its way inside. Just my opinion.
