I think they will few to no takers at that price. You can put a conversion together with other transmissions for half of that or even less if you source used items.
I am not a fan of hydraulic clutches based on experience with my daily drivers. I'll probably piss some people off. IMHO, Mechanical clutches typically give better pedal feel and can be repaired much faster than pretty much any hydraulic; especially if they have an internal slave such as those hydraulic throw out bearing set ups. Most mechanical set ups do not require removing the transmission/bell housing to replace worn or broken items.

This is why I want to go with mechanical linkage.

To be fair, I think there is quite a bit of reliability with OEM hydraulic setups. I've just seen three or four guys on here that have had no luck with the aftermarket hydraulic throw out bearings. Early failure.

The 4th gen Camaro OEM setup seemed to be good for as long as the clutch lasted. When you were in there to replace the clutch, it was best to replace clutch master and slave cylinder (hydraulic throw out bearing) at the same time. Same was true of the late 90's GM trucks (think 96-98) that had the 5-speed. That approach makes a clutch change a bit expensive though.

If you are going to have a hydraulic setup, I'd rather have the slave cylinder on the outside of the bell housing where you can get to it without pulling the transmission. That can make running headers pretty tough though. I paid a handsome price for my 1983 only Camaro T5 bellhousing but I'm glad I went that route. It matches up with the G-Body mechanical linkage and mounts the Camaro T5 transmission on the crossmember the way it was intended to be oriented (slanted over). For me, its the closest I can come to an "OE" setup, which will hopefully have the level of reliability I'm looking for.

I would love to covert to an OEM style throw out bearing; haven't really looked, but I would need .445" throw. One drawback to the OEM style is the lack of a stop, and once you overextend it, you have a $350 piece of art. I don't really have any complaints about either the Howe or my current RAM, other than they leak.

That is over engineered & priced to reflect it. Why replace the pedal hanger when it's the same stick or auto? I have a auto brake pedal that can be cut down if I need another stick version, & I would use 1st 0r 2nd gen A body pedal pads. With all that "fancy" stuff to put it in why does the shifter look so clunky & over sized? Want to make a good conversion kit come up with either a repop (uni-bell) bellhousing or re-engineer one to work with mechanical, external hydro, internal hydro, & for those who hate themselves but love abuse- H body cable release. Have it work with what ever trans you want use & have it taliored to the end user. For now I'll hord my extra parts for back up or if lucky another three pedal ride.

when I ran a hydraulic throw out bearing I used an appliance leveler with a nut on each side of the firewall for an adjustable pedal stop.

I assume that the plate is for a hydraulic master? I'd like to see an installation...what parts work with this piece?

Mine is for a gen 4 F body master. I ended up doing some custom work on the slave side but that is because I have a totally unique setup. Hydro clutch on a mechanical bell for a sbc. The SSM pedal is smooth as silk

They need to change the magazine title to "Hot Wallet", since they no longer bother to go the hot rod way of doing anything, but rather seem to say "Let's find the most expensive way to do something that's been done by hobbyists hundreds of times for way less money"

It's like they are afraid to think, do research, or get dirty

Have they completely forgotten the roots of hot rodding.....scrounging, adapting, re-engineering, modifying stuff to make a workable solution?

Yeah, I know, advertisers to placate.
