Throttle/Carb issue (Phantom accel)

Like I first suggested it looks like the fast idle is stuck. Pull the lever (marked by the red arrow) forward to pull it off the fast idle cam and that should drop the revs. Rev the engine a little and gently pull the lever if the lever won't move. You'll need to find why it is sticking though but it probably just needs to be cleaned.

Thanks a bunch boss, I'll do that today i played around a little yesterday, cleaned the bay up a bit, little tune up and such, I'll check this when i get home, Oddly enough i was driving today and well it didnt happen, so i may have freed something up cause it didnt accel by itself or idle high when i put it in park

So i pulled the lever forward, it moves freely and fine, Didnt have a chance to let it idle down to see if its fixed or not, but it was deff was in that fast idle position, even after i had driven a half hour up to work today..

Just don't be surprised if it happens again. Mine kept getting stuck so I eventually swapped to a fresh rebuilt one and sent in as a core when I got tired of re-setting that thing. Wanted to rebuild the whole carb for exp but I was driving the car too much to get into all that ( which is what it looks like you're doing ) Don't skimp on the smoke test. I was shocked that mine failed but it's a very cheap repair to do. On the v6, switching to the 4.1L v6 manifold can gain a few hp, but it's very hard to find this manifold.

The manifold. Mine was cracked and I didn't see it but that's rare. Yours is probably fine if it sounds normal now but it's always good to check. The gasket is obviously more likely to fail than for it to be cracked entirely

When did the problem start?. If it was after the car was sitting for an extended period of time it could have stuck and just driving it can free it up.

That's the answer then, these cars need to be driven...just like us old men, we need to keep moving or rigormortis sets in...😵
