When you get the correct intake just make sure it has a square flange so you do not waste your money on an adapter

That intake should work even if it's not for an 87. You just have to drill out the for center bolt holes, is that what you was meaning?

Yeah i kno it shud work but as of right now the center holes have nothing in them. and im considering all problems... like mayb bcuz the intake isnt flush with the gasket it is pullin air that isnt being mix with the fuel... like too much air and not enough gas so that cuz b why i dont have much HP either. But Drilling would would also work

I have a pre 86 intake on my Monte to and I drilled the intake and works good. One way to see if your intake is leaking is to get a can of carb cleaner and start the car then just spraying the intake or anywhere you think is leaking and if the car dies or trust to die then you found your leak

Okay I will try that.. What is it about carb cleaner that makes the car die?
And when you drilled your intake what size bit did you use and was the intake still on the block? I would assume it would have to be to line up the hole correctly

Don't drill anything untill you talk to the guy and see if he swaps it for you.

If you told him what car it was for, then he made the error and sold you the wrong one.

If you guys are friends he should do the right thing.

Thanks everyone my car is running great. Changed the wires... two of them were melted by the headers so the car was only firing on 6 cylinders. Crazy. I got it timed right. All the parts on. Bought a plug wire separator to pull the wires away. Lock up kit is working. All power is returned!

I am just taking a guess that the rest of the Monte is stock?

If so you bought the wrong intake.

You should have bought a Performer NOT a RPM Performer

Everything is stock except the intake carb distributer and exhaust system, I have a set of 350 heads to put on just to help the flow of things. But sorry that was a typo. I looked at the box this morning and it was just the performer spread bore intake.

350 heads on a 305?????? WTF!!!! unless you want it running like its on 4 cylinders dont do it. You'll have something around 7 to 1 compression and well I shouldn't even continue. Just don't run 350 heads on a 305. DON'T
