TIRED Of Dealing With People Selling Items

I've had people buy stuff off me to flip a handful of times, doesn't bother me, if someone is getting their price then who cares what they do with it. If upset someone is making money on it, then sell it for more(?). Never really got that, unless the buyer gave a sob story, knocked you down in price using that story, you gave in to them, then saw it being flipped...then maybe.

I was kinda bummed with that. My race car, that I owned for 25 years was sold to a flipper. Somebody called and gave me a story that he was trying to get back into racing he'd been out a while. I wanted to sell it to someone that would appreciate the work I put into the car over all those years. Well he showed up with 2 guys that were "racers" that could help him look over the car. Turns out, 2 weeks later the car showed up on the internet at the track with one of the "racers" driving it with FOR SALE on it in shoe polish. I just keep telling myself I got paid, not much I can do.

I was selling my kids gocart and a lady talked me down in price and then asked if I would deliver it 2 hours away so I said no deal. Had another guy try to low-ball me and whatever he took off the price I added that to the price for my counter offer.

If you're worried about "flippers" making a buck off your stuff- I advise you either just keep it or sell it and get over it. Otherwise you're worried you're selling it too low of a price. Not to be harsh, but when you sell an item, you're selling it to someone that's willing to pay what you agreed to accept. Nothing more simple than that. It's now theirs to do with as they please.

I sell stuff to anyone I don't know, I'm kinda not really interested in the validity of their story except for one that gives me the most money for the item THAT I NO LONGER WANT IN MY GARAGE/SHOP/LIFE, ETC. It's a business transaction. I give you the stuff, you give me the $$. If you take it out back and use it for target practice, I don't care. Yes, I'd like to see people enjoy the stuff I no longer want in my life, but if they flip it, more power to them. I have their sunk costs in my pocket already.

The ones who deal over the phone without ever looking at what they are buying. I drop 10% off the price if they buy it today. Most never text/call back. I did have a kid (20 something) borrow his grandfather's truck, drive almost 2 hours to get to my house at 130am. I was giving away an F body hood and rear hatch just to get it gone. I gave him a Hurst shifter with a MOMO carbon fiber knob and a few other items that were lying around just to entice him. I recently sold a house on a land contract and had to choose from 6 buyers. The eventual buyer was happy. 2 were kind of cool and the last 2 were azzholes that I had to be really blunt with because they felt entitled to the house just because they looked at it. Anyway you cut it this is better than newspaper classified ads.

I have some sellers confused when I agree to the price they are asking, show up at the agreed time and pay for it without trying to knock the price down. I have had a couple ask me if their price was too low.....

There's that saying where everyone assumed people were dumb because they just didn't have access to information?

Well the internet came along and proved that was wrong.

I think some people don't realize a title is necessary and assume possession of the vehicle is 9/10ths the law.
In Georgia a title is not needed for cars that are 20 years or more old.

I had a new part listed on FM for $200 it is kind of long but here's how the messages played out.
Do you still have these?
Yes, I still have them
Ill buy them today if you can cut me a deal on them.
The best I can do is $180, I paid $260 + 35 shipping from GbodyParts
Damn, I have $100 I’m tight on money,Well let me know I guess. I’m not trying to low ball you.
I could come up with another $20 but that was suppose to be gas money
Sorry, I will just hang on to them for now.
I understand. I’m just trying to get my car back on the road. If you change your mind, please let me know.
Then an hour later I get this.
Will you do 160 today?
Let me know when you have $180.
Ordered them from a local company for $159
What's the name of the place?
It was a bluff. I’m trying to see if you’ll sell them for $160 man do me a solid I really need them.
At this point I am done with this guy and I have also looked at his FB page to see who I am dealing with and I don't respond.
Then an hour later I get this.

I literally only have $180 and I would need gas money to drive out to you
Now I respond with "$200"
$180???
I don't respond.
Will you do $180
20 minutes later I get this
I can do $180 tonight
20 minutes later again
Yes or no?
I still don't respond and I also have this listed on Milan Dragway classified which his next response is based off.
Dudes like you have the slowest cars in the group. over $20... you silly.
So now I block him, (should have done it sooner)
So the next morning I get a message coincidentally from someone else and I figure the first guy knows him and look at this guys FB page and see a girl that was on the first guys page so I play along and we set up a meeting at 7:00 at the Speedway near my house and he is on time (he is an hour away) he let's me know he is there and I pull up next to his truck, he comes out of the Speedway with a coffee and I recognize it is the first guy he tells me he has the $200 and I give him the parts, he thanks me and we shake hands and I was happy to get $200 but I almost wanted to tell him if you weren't such an A-hole yesterday you could have saved $20 but I don't think he knew that I knew who he was.
I have had these posted on CL for well over a year and it was nice to finally just get rid of them.

Me answering a marketplace text: As soon as I notice it I respond.
Them responding: 10 minutes or later even though they saw my response as soon as I sent it.
Me: responds as soon as I notice their reply and continue in this manner, answering 20 questions and them ending on: What's your best price? I was really looking for something ($300) cheaper but thought if I annoyed you for 40 minutes you would drop the price just to get rid of me.

Market place is great, i know some of you don't have FB ( lucky bast***s) ..HOWEVER lately I don't know what it is, but it seems like only morons are selling vehicle and parts lately. Last month, wanted to purchase a vehicle, SOOOOO had a week long conversation with the guy selling it, he was waiting for his "title" to come back before he could let the car go. EXCUSE me for thinking rational here, but wouldn't you have your "title" in HAND BEFORE you advertised it for sale!???? Then he blocked me! LOL MORON ALERT ....And just now, tried to purchase an interior, guy says someone else is interested, but first come first serve. I'm not a game player and I don't like it when people sell things out from under me, HENCE, I will not try to BUY out from under someone else EITHER...Its called RESPECT! Unfortunately it seems like few people know how to conduct themselves or business either anymore.
Agreed. Sad that this actually normal now. I do NOT consider myself one of those people. In fact, I am the dumb azz who keeps track of who contacts me in what order and makes sure that I give them that right in that order. BUT, almost always, those people end up not responding or say they want it and make arrangements and ghost and by the time you have a GOOD buyer, they have already purchased it or got it elsewhere because they did not want to wait for something that may not materialize. So, with that being said...I SOMETIMES agree with the first come first served rule. Money in hand now speaks volumes when they show up and don't try to lowball you.
