Lowering spring should lower. I had a similar result with Eibachs, BUT I have a v6 (I didn't expect too much). So, I went with drop spindles. I'd pop the ball joints, and double check the seating.
I honestly didn't expect the car to be any lower with 1" springs since the stock springs are worm. I just wanted a better ride quality. What I don't like is the front sits higher than the rear.

I talked with Duane again and he gave me 2 options. Order a set of 2" springs and then return the 1", or just cut some off of the 1" springs.

I'm thinking I will just cut a little off to try and level it out.

I bought from UMI for their good reputation and I don't regret it. I feel that Duane at UMI has been really helpful and that means the most to me. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. I would just call them first to discuss my project.

When you're building cars there's always something that can go wrong and this to me is a minor issue. This car is 33 years old and I have no idea what it's been through before I got it. Since December this car has had new paint, new interior and an LS swap. This isn't the first problem I've had and it won't be the last.

Also don't forget human error. It's possible I have the springs in wrong or somehow there was a mix up in manufacturing. Duane said if I did send the springs back they would test them, but I need to get this thing to the tire shop soon. So I chose to cut them.

We actually just discussed this at our engineering meeting. We have a game plan to test samples from the current lot, and test keep samples from previous lots. We are also going to test a random sample kit in a stock Cutlass we just bought.

Duane really does care about you guys (as do I and as does Brent, our other sales guy).

FWIW, our springs are manufactured in Texas by THE leading NASCAR supplier and always using traceable USA wire. We could resell imported springs that we can literally buy for $8 each. But we don't. Our parts aren't always perfect but that's what we strive for.

in the meantime Jweb I sincerely appreciate you working with Duane the Rock Stiner on this.

I could have just cut my factory springs and saved a bunch of money if that is your solution!!!!!!
That's what I will be doing.

I usually do that, this time I bought springs and well not good.

Just the fact that the company is testing batches of the product tells me the problem is bigger than they are admitting.

If an 8 dollar spring works better then go with the 8 dollar spring.

I would be upset If I went through the trouble to install new springs, and then have to remove, cut ( hopefully just once), and re-install them again.

I understand what you guys are saying about just using stock springs but the whole idea, besides lowering the car, is better spring rate for better performance. I used UMI stuff on a 2000 trans am I restored and it handled like a slot car. Better than a previous vette I owned. By far !!!

When you're building custom cars or trucks it's easy to get a part that doesn't fit or work quite like you thought it would. Prior to this car I built a '51 Chevy truck(see photo below) and I lost count of all the times it happened. I have had 3 different engines, 2 rear suspension and rear end setups and 2 different front brake setups on there. If you expect every thing to go perfectly the first time, this might be the wrong hobby.

To me it's about the customer service you receive when something does go wrong.

35 years of building custom cars/trucks. I guess I'm in the wrong hobby.... don't quote me for stupid stuff. If you had 3 engines 2 rear suspensions, and 2 brake setups, that was by CHOICE, not from a questionable coils spring...jeezzz.
