They gave me 3 options:
1- Remove the whole set and return to Summit
2- Order a set of 2" springs direct from them, then return the 1" so they can test them. Probably what I should do.
3- Cut the springs I have now. I thought this was best, due to my lack of patience. UMI is about 5 days away as far as shipping goes..

Those are some options:

Return o Summit...costs you more money

Order a set of 2 inch drop springs and return the 1 inch drop springs.....costs you even more money.

Cut the springs......Was a complete waste to buy the set your have since you could have cut your factory springs and never had this problem and your wallet would have more money in it.

So far every option their great customer service offered you costs you more money or you wasted your money.

Aren't returns to Summit free? And possible other businesses will cover the expense as well.

Well you are right, I should probably be getting a new set of springs at no additional cost to me. But those could be bad too.

I didn't expect the car to be any lower with 1" springs and actually I can't go very low with an LS truck oil pan. I just wanted it to ride better
My issue is the stock springs are crap. I feel like I'm riding on marshmallows. If I cut down the UMI springs I should have a better ride quality, but I could be wrong. This option I don't spend any more money and I don't have to put the stock springs back in.

Hopefully by you commenting on here UMI will see that there are a few more than they're aware of. The worst thing is people that don't say anything when they have a problem with a product. When you and I and anyone else with a similar problem lets them know. They should really crack down on their manufacturer and QC.If not, their customers will go elsewhere. When I talked with them, I got the feeling they were concerned and would be checking their process for issues, which I considered good customer service. I hope they do follow through a sort this out for future customers.

What shock absorber brand and part number did you use with these springs?

I use regular Kyb gas-a-just. I'm not on my computer right now, I can give you actual numbers tomorrow.

Kyb gas a just shocks
Front are El Camino springs
Rear are Monte Carlo AS

More than happy with the setup!
Still got enough ride quality. Only problem I'm scraping with my exhaust and I would need to remove the wheel wells if I would like to use bigger tires.

Permanent Temporary
I picked up the 3" drop springs from OPGI for my wagon. I read that you need to use shorter shocks when you go that low. I have also used KYBs - I did read a notice that the Gas-Adjusts will lift the car a little over conventional shocks. There's a reason they warn you not to cut the plastic strap before installing the shock. Dang near put my eye out 20 years ago.

Everyone i know is worried over that "use shorter shocks"-line from OPGI. But if you ask them they don´t have any options available or any kind of hint what you might have to get. And yes, the KYBs sure lift the car a little bit - might be the reason why i´m sitting so good with my 3" inch springs.
I just think, if those KYBs blow out some day cause they can´t handle the permanent pressure, i get a new set für 80 bucks and be done with it.
I will let the forum know how long the KYBs will work, but im confident that this will work for a while

CruisinKev had 3" springs and some Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks. Thats the setup he wanted to go with back in the days.
KONI also makes shorter shocks.

I don't think it from operating under compression; I think it's from constant bottoming if the shocks blow out. Make sure you have some good, correctly set, poly bump stops, and all should be good.

Last night I cut 8 3/4" off the springs (about 1/2 a coil). The new measurement from the center of the spindle to the fender lip is 14.5". Took me about two hours and the car looks perfect.
I will take some pics when I can pull it out of the garage. Now I can get the wheels on and finish this thing.
