Re: Another Daily Driver

Heat range is only one step off. Reach sucks but it can't be anyworse than the old spark plug non-foulers. Motor is pretty much stock, so I really can't see it hurting much. I can't move the pipe that is causing the main problem. I would have to end up dumping the exhaust out the front, and that will be tough with the fuel pump and lower radiator hose in the way. I will change the header but only if absolutely necesarry. I haven't even heard the motor run yet, so there's a lot of things i'm just trying to get close enough to fire it.

Re: Another Daily Driver

Well good luck on your project and keep posting pictures of your progress. I'll be curious how it runs.

Re: Another Daily Driver

have you checked into the accel "shorty" plugs? they're made especially for header equipped cars...

Re: Another Daily Driver

565bbchevy- will do.

1evilreagal-It was in my head but 30 bucks for 8 was more than i'd rather spend. Plus i've heard of people having issues with them.

My only concern is the 3/8" reach. It's gonna shroud the flame kernel but I really don't see it hindering the performance of a stock smog era 350. I just went by the specs when picking out the plug, dont' know what it's intended application was, but there really isn't such a thing as a lawnmower plug. A Champion 71 for example is one of the more popular small engine plugs out there and it still has automotive applications as well, from Chrysler to BMW.

Re: Another Daily Driver

I had to cut down a plug socket to get the 2 problem plugs tightened but it wasn't a big deal. Wasn't getting any spark at first. Not sure if it was the coil I had borrowed or the module, but after borrowing another of each it finally started to fire. The carb is shot, I planned to rebuild it but it looks as if it was leaking through the throttle shaft. Oh well I have another edelbrock sitting on the bench or I may try to find a good quadrajet and get rid of the adapter. That would help with hood clearance. Got a short video of it running, timing wasn't set by any means and the carb actually had a small stream of gas running right out of the squirter on the passenger side.

Re: Another Daily Driver

I made one by cutting down a normal plug socket. Still might be a tad longer than that one but it worked. It was close.

Re: Another Daily Driver

Got the exhaust all welded up and put on. I went with some cheap Raptor turbo mufflers. I really don't like turbo mufflers but I wanted it to be fairly quiet and i'm not too concerned with the flow. Then I swapped the 600 Edelbrock for another I had laying around. The bad thing is it's a 750 Edelbrock but the good thing is it's in better shape than the 600. And it's only temporary.
Oh and the driveshaft should be ready Thursday or Friday.

Re: Another Daily Driver

The driveshaft and radiator are installed. Also took care of some small things. Radiator is out of a BMW, so now it's a classy Chevette lol. Still need to grab an electric fan.

Had to cut the front spoiler so the radiator could drop through it. I*t hangs pretty low but I think it'll be okay. You can just barely see it at the bottom.
