Hi I'm new to this forum (I actually had to try and log in to see if I already have an account).. here are a few photos of my 83 Regal estate wagon I am currently in the build replacing the entire drivetrain with a 4.8l LS and 4L60E trans. I'm currently trying to figure out the rearend situation because the 7.5" may just explode. Seeing all these photos of wagons is inspiring!

It's great to see a new longroof member signing in. Your Regal is super clean. What a great find. I like your plans about going with an LS drivetrain. You're going to have to tell us about your wagon and how you were able to score it. I enjoy stories of how people were able to acquire their rides. Keep us up to date on your progress.
BTW, I'd keep the exterior of the car bone stock...maybe a set of GN/ T-Type wheels.

Thanks, Jack! I will try to not be too long-winded here (I want to start a build thread one of these days and then I can ramble on about it). I've had this car for several years now and it has been a love/hate relationship. When I first saw a GN style Regal wagon I knew I wanted one. I checked CL and found a nice yellow one in Portland and when I called him he said it was out on a test drive - of course it sold bc it was so cheap. Kinda bummed, I kept an eye out and eventually saw this one. A youngish couple had it for a few years to haul their dog, snowboards etc around. I think he said they got it from the original owner in the Tacoma area. Not wanting to lose out again I hurried and bought it. Well, the V6 pinged like crazy and never really ran right.. it was gutless and smoked a bit.. it would overheat on long drives on hot days due to a leak in the heater system.. so it kind of sat for a long time and I would debate whether to let it go. I did try to sell it once but was bummed bc no one wants a car with a crap engine! So I basically said F it, I will build it right and either use it as a daily or sell to finance projects. Now it's starting to snowball!
Here is recent pics after a good detail. I removed the stripes bc they were kinda bad, and I have new ones but held off on putting those back on. I removed the skateboard sticker from the deflector which pulled paint off so that's repainted a close white. I love the stock look and original plans were to simply lower it a bit and keep the wire covers and whitewalls..
It even HAD the original 84 Olympics sticker in the rear quarter window until my dad used the weedwhacker in my driveway and basically shot the window out with a rock
But now I'm so happy I didn't give up on this car and kept it. It's going to be a fun driver and like I said the project plan is evolving as I go.. haha

have you given it thought about using a Buick engine...like a 350? Although, it's probably a better bang for the buck going with the more modern LS engine and trans.
As for the 7.5 rear, I suppose it could be built up to be stronger, but it depends on how you'll be using the car.

hey everyone im new in here i just bought a 1983 Chevrolet Malibu Classic station wagon 3.8L 229 V6 a month ago from my great uncle.
its been sitting inside the barn since 1998. its only got 113K miles on it. its was overheats so hes park it inside (thank god that hes park it inside barn) whole frame r in good condition still have some factory paint on it. no rust at all for a Ohio car. so i bring to home and hope get running again. end up rebuild almost whole the engine.
a month later engine are done after all replacing new parts and remove the emission crap.

I have a Buick 455 and a BOP G-body bellhousing in my shed...been looking for a Buick to put them in - a wagon would be the perfect location!
