I don't recall seeing any like it before. Not really sure what to do with the exterior. I prefer the clean smooth look without all the trim, this one is missing a couple pieces of it. Not really looking forward to grinding all the trim studs off if I go that route.

View attachment 76618 New to me 1981 Malibu Wagon! 3.8 TH200 trans. Has power window, locks, cruise, air, tilt. It's all there but needs a fuel pump. I will fix it and drive it around a bit before deciding on which way to go with it. View attachment 76619 View attachment 76620 View attachment 76621
Nice score, man. Looks like it's got good bones. I like that it's got power windows, air, tilt, etc.
I would redo the faux wood when it comes down to repainting, etc. But again, it's a matter of taste and preference.

Here's mine, currently in garage storage in Tennessee. Soon to be out on the West Coast! Also in my mega-thread. Will have more soon!

That's a good looking wagon. I like that particular color blue.
I can see why you would want to change the header panel/ nose...not one of the better looking Buick header panels.
Thanks for sharing the pics.

I used to apply that woodgrain back in the 70s & 80s HATED IT . Its acually harder to take care of than the paint is .

Re: Woodgrain. Actually not original. When it was in that minor fender-bender, we couldn’t track down the original pattern. I found something close from an RV supply company, so that’s what we went with. We had to re-wrap the entire car to match. Yeah, I think the Regal sedan/wagon nose is kind of frumpy. But I also know the coupe nose/fender swap isn’t just a simple bolt-on. Body work is probably the last thing I’m going to tackle.
