I guess I should put something up. I've been using the site and it's substantial knowledge base for several months to get my own ride together. Before I start I just want to say thank you to everyone who puts their time and effort into chronicling what they do on here. I, like many others, would be lost without it.
Here is my 1983 Malibu wagon. Make no mistake about it. I really love this thing. It was a $500 find on craigslist with a blown 305 ci thanks to a grandma's reluctance to turn the car off after blowing a head gasket because it was "too hot to wait for the tow truck with A/C". I've had it for a few months and have had numerous serious offers but I'd rather continue to piss of my wife by dumping more money and time into it.
It now has a Vortec 5.7L (L31) which breathes in through a Holley 600 cfm 1460 4 barrel carburetor with vacuum secondary. Noise is controlled by a set of full length headers and the cheapest Summit racing has to offer "weld-it-yourself" exhaust. Gear changes are controlled by a hydramatic 700r4 that is missing 3rd and 4th gear to add to the ambiance. Wheels are Crager soft 8's, by far the single most expensive purchase on the car but worth it, and tires were whatever was on sale through tire rack.
Future plans are to add back 3rd and 4th gear and do more burnouts. Maybe next summer I'll get the A/C up and running. It is a necessity in Vegas. Also, I should say, the neighbors are cool.
