Went to local swap meet and found this for $20.00 so I brought it home. Guy said he had it for his 87 GN used it a few times and its been seating in his garage for years. I figured I could plug my parachute in it. thumbnail (8).jpgthumbnail (7).jpg

Nothing as yet. Haven't even made it out to the shop. Something about there being Tee-Pee on sale and then a quick trip to the local bargain tool and whatnot store to check on 3M style full face dust masks and then having breakfast first???

Not today, but last week actually.
Ran into another local 78-80 Cutlass guy at a show last Saturday and got to talking about our cars, turns out he had some very desirable parts that he was willing to let go.

Picked up a solid 8 out of 10 rocker panel moulding to replace my pretty beat up original...

...it would require very little work to restore vs the additional 20 hours or so the old one would still need. I finished it already this week and it only took me around 8 hours total for the whole thing.

Also got 2 more N78 wheels, one with a center cap. One bought and one free...

I’m going to restore and paint up the best of the 2 and turn it into a full size spare for Olds Cool.

And finally, a great set of front and rear bumpers and a highly sought after aluminum rear reinforcement:

Both Olds Cool’s bumpers have some pretty bad pitting and a few peeling chrome areas. The chrome on these new ones is in great condition, so they’ll get used for the brushed nickel finish on it now. I’ll probably end up using the bumpers that are currently on Olds Cool as fabrication cores to create the tucked and narrowed ones on The Juggernaut.

(Yes I know the front bumper on The Juggernaut is already tucked and narrowed, but I’m not 100% happy with it and plan on redoing it).

The aluminum reinforcement isn’t really in the best of shape so I told him I wasn’t willing to pay him anything for it, but we agreed that if/when we go for a beer it was on me and he’d throw it in for free.

I love deals like that.

Looks like Olds Cool isn’t just gonna get prettier, but also going on a diet!
