What did you do at work today?

Awesome, congratulations!
I had a similar start. My "stepfather" taught me how to tow a trailer, drive a stick shift, and later, how to drive semi. I got my CDL at the age of 24, and am now in my 60's. There have been frustrations with traffic, but overall, I have a productive career, and am on track for a comfortable retirement.
My advice, when your situation permits, join the Teamsters Union, build a retirement pension.

Went and took my CDL test yesterday and nailed it! A solid month of prep, plus years of driving non CDL trucks really had me ready, and it was cold here so the examiner didn't wanna be outside any longer than he had to be either!
My dad held a CDL with hazmat for over 4 decades, and he used to tell me not to get one since OTR trucking sucked! The last several years he changed his tune, just wish he was here still to I could've celebrated with him, but I know he's smiling down with pride!View attachment 188179

Thats great, congrats! Sorry you have to suffer with an International lol.

Wrote more cover letters and submitted more job applications. We'll see where this takes us.

Good luck. Based on what you posted a few pages back, it looks like its time to move on.

Finished up my training and got certified yesterday as an operator. Start 4am at my local stockpile 10 mins from my house.

Plowing snow for Penndot.

Natasha submitted her release on Sunday night. Hopefully it woke the General up... literally and figuratively.

So I graduate from this 3 month class tomorrow, Space Test Fundamentals. I've mentioned it before, but I assume most if not all have forgotten all about it. This year was the first year and next year it will begin to integrate with the USAF Test Pilot School. I was 1 of 4 enlisted selected this year to attend, the rest are Officers. It will slowly evolve into a 1 year course like the test pilot school already is and more fully integrate with it moving forward. I held off until the last minute to give my full feedback to the head honcho but dropped bits and pieces along the way. Sometimes, depending on my mood, my feedback would differ and I wanted to make sure I was on the same page with myself which I was 100%. It was a 1 on 1 feedback session and, as expected, everything I said was already being worked. . . but to a greater extent than I had realized. I was then offered a job, and taken a bit aback. I think I'd enjoy the job, but the location sucks. I likely only have 1 tour left in my military career, and after a brief reflection realize that, in this moment, I am THE enlisted guy with the experience who could pull this off. No other enlisted guy/gal has been through this course who has the test experience in such a relevant operational mission set to benefit the cirriculum so much. I saw next year's selectees and I think that still holds through then at least. So now I'm torn, because this is the last place to live, but arguably the most significant place in the force that I could truly affect change. But after that one last tour, what next? Yay decisions. BTW I'm slated to move mid/late next year at the moment.

Groom Lake, Area 51, and all that huh? 1 tour left? why, you quitting after 20? that's all good because after that you get to apply for test pilot positions at civilian companies which pay a lot more they will want your test pilot experience and TS clearance. 👍
