Nice! No joke, that was truly a sketchy *ss 25 min ride home! The zoom zoom was squatting, and turning felt weird with that much weight back there! I was stoked to get it out of the trunk which sucked, now i have to go pickup an engine stand so i can start messing with it....occupying my kids wagon now lol(only way to move it to the shed).I carried a 350 olds in the back of my regal. Empty the suspension is so clapped out you can bottom it out by pushing on it. That was a fun day. With 2.41 gears too. 1/8 tank getting there, 1/4 tank going back.
Do what ya gotta do... is that a hole in the piston on the left? Edit: man that engine looks terrible from the pic. Hope it' still good to rebuild.Nice! Actually....its a freshly built short block. Lighting in my shed sucks! It has a new gm crank, new wrist pins, rod bolts, rings, new bearings throughout. The block was torque plate honed, hot tanked, etc.Do what ya gotta do... is that a hole in the piston on the left? Edit: man that engine looks terrible from the pic. Hope it' still good to rebuild.
Man, pictures sure can be deceiving. This is the internet after all. Good luck with the build!Actually....its a freshly built short block. Lighting in my shed sucks! It has a new gm crank, new wrist pins, rod bolts, rings, new bearings throughout. The block was torque plate honed, hot tanked, etc.
The cylinder walls are nice and clean, rotates smoothly, and has zero miles on it. I plan on chasing all the threads, taping it up to avoid nonsense from getting in it, and will get some fresh paint at some point.
Saw this on ebay, couldn't resist. Price was right, and I NEVER see them out "in the wild" or anywhere on the net for under 100 bucks in useable shape. My motor was a two barrel, not that it came with a carb or housing. I was gonna swap it to a four barrel the moment I learned it was a two barrel, which was basically the first time I saw it laying sideways in a dude's barn. View attachment 63720
Yeah i know....the guy that built it has been building motors for a long time. He coulda spent more time cleaning the top of the pistons, but no biggie. Alot of assembly lube used as well! Once i get it on a stand and tidied up i will take some better pics and update it on my build thread.Man, pictures sure can be deceiving. This is the internet after all. Good luck with the build!
