Brought home this lil beauty yesterday. '70 SP code Buick 350. Rated at 315hp/410tq. Gonna take it apart this weekend and spruce it up. I kinda want to put it in there as it is on the outside, I love the patina on it. Engine had under 70k miles when it was removed to make room for a 455, or so I was told. Guy seemed legit. Just an old guy with too many things going on at the same time, needed to lighten the load. Came 99% complete, minus the starter. But I have one anyway that I know is good. I'm so pumped for this, plus I get to use my damn air cleaner! And I wouldn't be lying with that sticker either 😛 It's rated at 10.25:1, probably closer to 9.5:1, but I don't know the cam specs of the SP 350... anyone have a 1970 Buick A body chassis manual? lol
do you have a picture of the SP stamped into the block, it's the driver's side on the block of the engine between #2 and #4 plug

The 5 is hard to see, but the number says 252... day of the year?
Yep. I wonder what the numbers mean then... I'd assume just a production number or batch number...that can't be the day of the year unless there was 268 days in 1970, the number on the engine I posted. The important stamp is the SP which was only available in 1970
i know when i did new car get ready in the mid 80's, we were required to right down the engine number on the inspection form. it may be part of the vin.Yep. I wonder what the numbers mean then... I'd assume just a production number or batch number...
